5 Things to Start Your Space Life (From Dream to Action to Business) After interviewing hundreds of candidates and being myself on the path to space (astronaut and business owner), here’s what I’ve learned that works well for me and can save you hundreds of hours and, more importantly, get you closer to your dream. 1. It's never too late: If you define it as such, being 45 plus years old gives you a huge advantage. Dedicate two days a week to work on your space program, including physical, mental, and technical training. Keep your “day job” until it’s possible financially to switch, this will prompt you to ensure teamwork is there. Full disclosure the week is composed of 7 full days. 2. Expensive is relative (to a degree): Start with foundational training (yes, we at Space Nation do this). The outline is defined in our training guides. You’ll need mentoring, teamwork, personal growth, community, and funding. Consider the lifetime value and whether it’s worth investing in your best self. 3. It's never too soon: If you are a student, there’s a lot you can plug into. Yes, it’s simple to get a scholarship, and most examples of success that I see involve engagement in multiple intense fronts that provide references. 4. On the planning side and resilience side, use our Future Space Self (TM) to crunch time and objectives. I’ve seen the power of a) running as fast as possible and b) doing that for several years. 5. Be really specific and stop wasting time with people or projects that don’t actually move you upward. Learn more: ttps://lnkd.in/g83ivdeX 🚀Starliner Return Still Uncertain, White Sands Researchers Seek Answers Hoping for more insight into the thruster failure which delayed the vessel, New Mexico’s White Sands Testing Facility began a series of ground-based tests this week to recreate the issue which has kept Starliner from a timely return to Earth. Preliminary results suggest that unexpected heat generation caused a shedding of Teflon insulation surrounding the thruster seals. Victoria DeFazio is a founding team member of the Space Business Association and has been the outreach officer of the SBA since Fall 2022 and became the treasurer in Spring 2024. Victoria will be graduating from the School of Earth and Space Exploration and Barrett, The Honors College with a degree in astrophysics and a minor in Italian. 🌐Testimonial on the Space Business Association: The SBA has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing industry executives who have helped me grow my professional network. I learned a lot about public speaking, event planning, and student engagement, but the most important thing to me is the family that the SBA officers have become. 🌐Favorite Space Business Association Memory: My favorite SBA memory is probably when Josh and Tim interviewed me for an officer position. I was so nervous and my Zoom crashed twenty times, but little did I know that Josh and Tim are the sweetest and the most fun ever. 🌐Professional Highlights: Victoria completed her thesis on sea turtles in Costa Rican spirituality and conservation this year. Additionally, she is a Quesada Research fellow, Poesiaeuropa fellow, ASU Space Student Ambassador, secretary of Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics, vice president of Association of Women in Physics, and a student researcher at Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera. 🎓Plans After Graduation: Victoria is going to be an astronaut! 🎿 Hobbies: Skiing and spending time with friends 🌐How has being a part of the SBA impacted you? Just had the incredible opportunity to meet the🚀 WARR Rocketry Team of #students from the Technical University of Munich at #EuRoC23 and the winner of the 🏆Design New Space Award. It's not every day you come across a student team that has built the largest mobile #launchpad for #SRAD rockets! Spending days working with every tool imaginable, their #rocket project NIXUS was a sight to behold - as close to industry standards as it gets. 👉Fast forward three months from #EuRoC, today I had the honor of interviewing Greta Angela Giacomelli, Bernhard Vorhofer, Louis Wiench, Matthias Weiand, and Max Finkl of the 2024 team. They're a non-profit student group based at the Technical University Munich, focusing on space-themed projects. With over 200 active student members, WARR is Germany's largest group in this field. They operate in five subgroups: #WARRrocketry (hybrid and liquid rockets), #WARRspaceelevator (space elevator prototypes), #WARRmove (satellites), #WARRspacerobotics (rover concepts), and #WARRspacelabs (microgravity experiments on the ISS). Established in 1962, WARR was formed to supplement the university's theoretical education with practical aerospace experience. A perfect blend of theory and hands-on learning!

Merida Aerospace to Launch Rocket, Space Center in Mexico by Adriana Alarcón for Mexico Business News . . . Merida Aerospace, an aerospace company based in Florida, has unveiled plans to boost space exploration and education in Mexico through a National Rocket and Space Center in the Yucatan Peninsula. Inspired by the US Space and Rocket Center in Alabama, the project aims to position Mexico as a key player in the expanding space economy. The National Rocket and Space Center is set to be a multifaceted facility featuring state-of-the-art amenities such as a museum, observatory, and immersive experiences for the public, says the company. Simultaneously, it is expected to house space camps designed to provide hands-on training for students and individuals interested in space operations.  .
