$ 10M for a Breakthrough instead of $3B for Hype!?? Here is a brilliant (and well written!) article - about 10-5 years of "Rise and Fall" of HOPES for cultured (cultivated) meat. For me one aspect is very, very important - $3B were invested in start-ups in this field!! 3 billion dollars!! And - maybe - most of this money will burn!? One of the author’s conclusions is that we need to return to the stage of SCIENCE again. And - finish it! That is why I spent $15M and 15 years of my and my partners lives for fundamental scientific research. That's why we don't want to rush and run monetize our intermediate discoveries. Be careful with taking #NMN and #NAD+ boosters! Even David Sinclair - one of the loudest proponent of NMN and NAD+ "for longevity" - now is warning!! (Maybe he found the new "hype" idea???))) And - as we mentioned for many times - NMN was tested in mice, and did NOT extend life span. Here you could find the list of compounds (1043) that were tested in long-lived (female) mice in our #LongevicaMiceStudy_1 You could find a lot of well-known, very promising, counterintuitive, very famous (but - without LEE), etc...

For a long time now, for me, S. Jay Olshansky, Ph.D. has been “resisting” the flow of hype and pseudoscientific statements on the topic of “life extension”! Respect! One note. Jay so habitually patters that “today people (in modern societies) age more slowly! This is the result of diet, medicine, exercise.”... I want to offer a slightly different explanation - based on our discoveries. What IF SOMETHING has changed in the "life" of people in urban ("modern") societies in the last 60 years or less? What IF there were more SUBSTANCES in their lives that specifically activate the Detoxification System?? Pesticides, household chemicals, etc.! And - as we believe - it is precisely this ACTIVATION that leads to better removal of “garbage” from the body - which results in #LifeExtension! This is STILL a hypothesis. But very...real! #lifeextension #lifespan #geroscience

Thanks to Peter Attia - we see what "the famous researchers and activists" in #longevity recommend to us, to public. As I see - a horrible mess!! One propose #metformin, the next- #diet, the third- #exercises, then- #rapamycin... NAD+... #resveratrol.... #Fisetin and #quercetin... Kurzweil publicly explained that he takes EVERY DAY near 100 (!!??) compounds!! When you see such recommendations - will you beleive them!??? That is why I won't tire of repeating - we need to understand the REAL #MoLE!! If we know #MoLE - we know ten ways, including different substances, diets, etc. - how to extend #health and #lifespan! If the mechanism is not known, we will have such a terrible variety of "everything that may at least help something” - but is unlikely to lead to #lifeextension https://lnkd.in/em25MdVe

#MoLE vs Individual #Compounds. I have been trying for many years to explain why deciphering and understanding the Mechanism of Life Extension (MoLE) is much more important than finding individual substances/compounds that prolong life. Today we know several substances that prolong the life of long-living mice (females) (showed Life Extending Effect, or #LEE): #rapamycin, #acetylcysteine (and #NAC), #berberine, #taurine, #AKG, #inulin, #vitaminB3 and a couple more substances. (BTW - #metformin, #NMN, #aspirin didn’t show LEE!). Some “fans of life extension at any cost” are already taking one or even several substances from this list. There are already “scientific legends” about each of them, explaining the Mechanism through which each prolongs life. Surprisingly, it is clear from these explanations, that each substance has its own individual mechanism!? Therefore, it is quite possible to conclude that it makes sense to take ALL of these substances - because they “work through different mechanisms.” Well, at least no one has tested what effect any of these combinations will have. And it is quite possible that taking some of these substances together will have a negative effect rather than a positive one! 💥 But more important, we believe, that we have found only TWO #MoLE (and they are completely different from all those already proposed and known). And we understand that MANY substances - including all of these above - work through one of these two mechanisms! 💪 Moreover, we hope that we are able to identify many compounds for each of these MoLE. We already have such a lists - but want to extend them. And then we could rank them by efficiency. And we could find the most effective substance for each Mechanism! As a result, people will NOT HAVE to take “a handful of drugs.” They will be able to take ONLY ONE BEST/most effective COMPOUND! 👈 Or – take only TWO compounds with different MoLE (but we need to test and proof synergy). Not 5 or 10, like today. Only 1 or 2 the best!! We are now working to find small funds to conduct a series of additional experiments. And within one or two years we hope: 1- deeply understand each of the mechanisms, 2- prove these mechanisms (proof-of-concept) and bring them to the public (make a publication (-s) - and file new patents), 3- select many substances for each of these #MoLE (including new molecules) (and file new patents), 4- rank these substances according to their effectiveness, 5- it is possible to discover even new mechanisms! (because we have about 100 substances that “beautifully” shifted the curve to the right. And it is very likely that not all of them work only through our two mechanisms. We expect to find something else!) Useful publication. But projects with names "anti-aging", "longevity" etc. are very different - from life extension to senior care. Our focus is understanding the mechanisms of "Health and Life Extension" - very specific and advanced part of the broader field of #longevity. There are not many teams in the world working in this direction. And there are very few breakthroughs and discoveries here. We hope that our efforts will sooner or later develop into such a revolution! #healthextension #lifeextension

We tested very few #probiotics and #prebiotics in our #micestudy_1. But #Inulin (from chicory root), a dietary fiber, extended #mean lifespan by 16% and #maximal lifespan by 18%. We don't understand exactly #HOW it works (#MoLE)... And we really want to figure it out! So in the #micestudy_2 we want to test about 20 primarily #prebiotics , including several variants of #Inulin. Including trying to find out if there is an “optimal” age at which inulin works best? (we tested starting 5th month). Is there a “breaking point” beyond which there is no point in giving pre-probiotics? It seems that the formation of the intestinal microbiome occurs in childhood, and then it is difficult to change it. And perhaps our experiments will help us “see” that it is important to give pre-biotics (and perhaps pro-biotics too) at an early age! AND - perhaps even short-term use of a prebiotic at an early age will lead to #lifeextension!???
