If your focus on stretching goes no further than tying your shoelaces then the results of a new large-scale study looking at the links between flexibility and mortality may make for a sobering read. In the first investigation of its kind, an international team of researchers from institutions including University of Leicester and the University of Eastern Finland kept track of more than 3,000 middle-aged men and women for a decade. Claudio Gil S Araujo, lead author and director of research and education at Clinimex, an exercise medicine clinic in Rio de Janeiro where the data was collected and analysed, says that the results show that the more flexible you are, the more likely you are to live longer 🔗 Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/e-vYhVhJ

Day 2 at the XXVII Symposium of the Signe and Ane Gyllenberg Foundation: Psychosomatic Medicine Revisited was again packed with excellent keynote lectures. ✨ From today, I only have one key takeaway. (Unfortunately, I can’t remember which of the keynote speakers said it, but everyone in the room seemed to agree with it.) 😜 Psychoeducation is a terrible word. Really. It could just be called education. It’s quite ironic that Western medicine has traditionally divided the mind (psychocentrism) and the body (somatocentrism) as if they function separately, while at the same time, it’s known that the brain orchestrates all important bodily functions. There was a tangible sense of shared frustration among the participants that functional disorders are often misunderstood and neglected in other fields of medicine and therapeutics (not to mention the media!). Considering the growing rates of chronic illnesses and their impact on public health and quality of life, it would absolutely make sense if education on mind and body connection was mandatory for each and every one of us. #psychosomaticmedicine #functionaldisorders #psychoeducation

Longevity vs. Anti-Ageing – Insights from a Decade in Regenerative Medicine About Me: As a practicing regenerative physician for over a decade, I have witnessed first-hand the evolution and complexities of ageing interventions. It has been a rewarding journey to help individuals thrive, not just survive, as they age. Q: What distinguishes longevity medicine from anti-ageing? A: Longevity medicine is about extending the health span through deep scientific understanding of ageing biology, focusing on preventing age-related diseases and maintaining life quality. It aims for interventions at the cellular and metabolic levels. Q: How does anti-ageing medicine complement longevity? A: Anti-ageing medicine targets the external and symptomatic aspects of ageing, utilising scientifically supported treatments to improve aesthetic appearance and vitality. Q: Why are these distinctions considered important? As the fields around ageing interventions grow more complex, reflecting on these differences is crucial. It helps us tailor our approach to each individual's needs, whether they are looking to enhance their health span or improve their physical appearance. My view is fixing the cause (Longevity) often goes a long way in managing the expression (anti-ageing). Join the Conversation! With the increasing complexity of ageing sciences, what is your approach to health and vitality? Share your perspective and let us explore the best practices and create an academic community we can be proud of and make a difference! #Longevity #AntiAgeing #RegenerativeMedicine #HealthcareInnovation #HealthyAgeing

Health Optimization Medicine and Practice (#HOMeHOPe) is a health specialty designed for doctors and health practitioners who are interested in optimizing health, rather than just treating disease. In medical school, we are taught normal anatomy and physiology but not how to optimize or maintain it. In HOMeHOPe, we teach you how to optimize and maintain normal physiology by assessing the holobiont and using network-wide range shifting. Are you ready to start on your journey towards becoming a HOMeHOPe practitioner? #ClinicalMetabolomics is the foundational module, while #EvolutionaryMedicine is the true tour de force that underpins all of the modules of the HOMeHOPe Essential Certification. ➡️ Read more about clinical metabolomics in our blog article here: https://lnkd.in/gSN_qYfY ➡️ Read more about evolutionary medicine in our blog article here: https://lnkd.in/gy7Myeba ➡️ Enroll in the Clinical Metabolomics Bundle here: https://lnkd.in/drHwqiwb ➡️ Enroll in the Evolutionary Medicine module here: https://lnkd.in/gixwtcNA
