There's away's a bulkhead, bracket or battery pack in the way, and the motors never have the torque density that you were hoping for. We feel your pain. ...which is why we've taken our standard low voltage line of servos and shrunk their length by 1/3rd without reducing their performance! How did we do this? By 1) optimizing the housing to a one-piece design, and 2) taking off the off-the-shelf encoder and specially designing our own encoder to fit in a small space. 🎉 This weekend marks the inaugural flight of the Prusa i3 Berlin v2, a bad boy from the old RepRap days, resurrected. A 10-year-old, forgotten project in a dusty corner of our 3D lab is now a fully operational machine. From salvaging parts to rebuilding the frame and upgrading the electronics, it’s been great to feel the RepRap spirit again. 🛠️ Some Highlights: Built on a Prusa MK3S-style frame for reliability and precision. Powered by a 32-bit BTT Octopus board and TMC2209 steppers for smooth operation. Upgraded with an MK52 original Prusa magnetic bed for comfortable usage, instead of a coke mirror. Custom toolhead equipped with a 2-in-1-out hotend designed for the CR-10S. Preparing further updates for advanced features like input shaping with an ADXL345 accelerometer and a future 4-in-1-out extruder setup. I love the sleek black look of the original, but I wanted to add a splash of hot rod red. WiFi module and LEDs are on the way.
