Yesterday, on World Environment Day, we launched our campaign, highlighting the importance of air quality awareness and action. We just asked some friends of ours to participate and to share the information with their network. Our campaign, #DailyAir, brought together 50 participants from across 10 cities in India to shine a light on the air we breathe.
The process was simple yet impactful:
1. Participants used a reliable app or website to check the AQI level in their city.
2. They noted the AQI number and clicked a selfie with the number written on a paper or by taking a screenshot with it, making it clearly visible.
The results were eye-opening. The state of AQI in various cities across India is concerning, with a mean AQI of 133, which falls into the unhealthy category. Moreover, 85% of selfies were taken indoors, with participants sharing that they did not have access to purification devices.
Major pollution contributors include vehicular emissions, industrial activities, and construction dust. The need to take air quality health into our own hands has never been more critical.
Even though 50 people may not seem like much, every second matters when it comes to the condition of the air we breathe. Awareness is the first step toward resolving an issue.
We urge everyone to be #DailyAirAware and take steps to improve indoor air quality:
- Provide ventilation to prevent mold, remove stuffy air, and improve the CO2/O2 ratio.
- Use filters to ensure that the incoming air is free from pollutants and allergens.
- Maintain a healthy level of relative humidity for optimal conditions.
Join us in this mission by sharing your own #DailyAirSelfie and spreading the word about the importance of clean air. Let’s work together to make every breath we take healthier and safer for all.
