How many hats do you wear? I wear 4 (not counting being a Mum as that hat NEVER comes off). * Community Support for Fresh & Proper - a wonderful, family run convenience store in Fordham. * Community Liaison Manager for Soham Town Rangers Football & Social Club * Youth club leader volunteer for Soham Youth Takeover which I set up for 11-16 year olds and run from the local secondary school * Co-owner of our family business - Rum & Get It Mobile Cocktail Bar - which is run by myself, my husband, one of his brothers and his wife. It sounds like a lot... It is BUT... It isn't that hard to manage! Don't get me wrong, sometimes I can be in limbo with it all and sometimes I can be run off my feet, HOWEVER They can all interlink beautifully. For example... Fresh & Proper (Community Support role) sponsored the Fireworks Display at Soham Town Rangers (Community Liaison Manager role) which I setup a year before. Soham Town Rangers also run a Car & Bike Show (again, which I setup as Community Liaison Manager last year), and this year the young people at Soham Youth Takeover (Youth Club Leader role) volunteered at this event and LOVED IT! Then there is the Firek Family Limited business - Rum & Get It Mobile Cocktail Bar. This is a new venture as we only established it earlier this year. BUT We plan to attend community events, maybe even offering to run a mocktail bar for school proms next year. How AWESOME would that be?! I'm sure you can see a theme going on here... COMMUNITY! It is at the heart of everything I do! I used to be a primary school teacher for 10 years and I was good at it but by the end, the restrictions and paperwork that are put on teachers made it quite unenjoyable so I left. I am much happier working for the community than for a school. I still get to work with kids and their families but I don't have the same stresses as I did as a teacher...I just have different ones. My hats may change... They may just have some alterations done... But they all lead back to one thing... COMMUNITY! What hats do you wear?
