Can renewable energy pave the way to carbon-neutral maritime transport? AFRY is helping to revolutionise the shipping industry by reducing carbon dioxide emissions. 🌍 We are partnering with Liquid Wind on its FlagshipTWO project in Sundsvall, Sweden. This facility will convert renewable electricity and biogenic CO2 into green electrofuel, a crucial step towards CO2-neutral marine fuels. We are providing basic engineering services and technical documentation for the environmental permits to Liquid Wind and, together with world-leading green technology players, we are working on scalable solutions that can significantly cut emissions. Liquid Wind's flagship facilities will collectively produce over 150,000 tons of green electrofuel annually, reducing international shipping CO2 emissions by 200,000 tons. As we continue making strides in our sustainability initiatives, we are pleased to say that our production plant in Romania is now running on 100% renewable energy. That makes two of our plants, ALT Romania and ALT Utrecht, NL, surpass our renewable energy targets in line with EU emission guidelines. On the other hand, we are working on methods for using renewable sources across all ALT plants in the near future.
