🌟 I am thrilled to share highlights from my second-week presentation at High Park School for Project One Future with Enactus Lambton College! 🚀 🔍Exploring the essence of business 💼 from goods to services, we delved into the exchange of value that drives economies. Drawing examples from my experience at Best Buy, we discussed a diverse array of products like laptops, TVs, and services like Geek Squad, illustrating the dynamic nature of commerce. 💡Unveiling student preferences in business. It was fascinating to learn about Angel's passion for flowers and Saif's insights into their favourite business types. Understanding personal interests is key to unlocking entrepreneurial potential. ❓Examining ethical considerations in business 🛑 We confronted the darker side of commerce, highlighting industries that exploit addictive habits. This discussion sparked critical reflections on the role of businesses in society and the pursuit of social justice. 💼 Then we Dive deeper into goods and services 🎒 From everyday items like bags and bicycles to intangible services like music streaming and air travel, we explored the diverse spectrum of goods and services that shape our lives. 🔗 Connecting commerce with social justice and entrepreneurship 🌍 As we pondered the intersection of business and societal impact, it became clear that businesses and social ventures alike stem from the desire to provide value to others, fostering both economic growth and social change. 💡 Embracing the dual role of businesses and social ventures 🌱 By recognising the transformative power of goods and services, we acknowledge the potential of entrepreneurship to drive positive change and address pressing social issues. 🌟 Celebrating entrepreneurial success 🎉 From household names to local heroes, we explored a myriad of successful entrepreneurs, demonstrating the diverse paths to entrepreneurial achievement. 🔑 In the end, I summarised some key takeaways 📝 Our session underscored the relationship between commerce, social justice, and entrepreneurship, empowering students to harness their passions for meaningful impact. #Enactus #ProjectOneFuture #SocialEntrepreneurship 🌟

What a great event! Big Ideas is giving away tens of thousands of dollars to Berkeley students willing to challenge themselves to create a better world. "There's something in the water!" At Munster High School, a grant that gave Principles of Entrepreneurship students the chance to create their own board game and market it led to ideas like "Shark Bite," created by students Galilea and Rediet. In this game, students place stickers on the board before the game begins. Land on a life preserver ring and advance two spaces. Land on a shark: shark bite! "I wanted the students to be able to create something from inception to fruition that they could actually prototype and market," MHS teacher Eric Sera said. "Rather than create a hypothetical business plan for something they might create one day, the students gained an immersive, hands-on experience that allowed them to go through the full and actual entrepreneurial process." Munster Education Foundation is proud to support innovative learning experiences like this, which led to dozens of creative board game concepts and marketing plans from Munster High School business students. It’s funday Friday once again! Blue skies and sunshine at 7.30am, has the deluge of non-stop rain finally gone? Thus I am taking full advantage of the sun and spending the day “gardening” at the house refurb project today! Obviously that’s basically involves me playing on the digger and making a mess - fun. It’s currently “spring break” for University, but it’s an uber busy time for a lot of my students writing up their dissertations. A 10,000 word research report on a topic of their choosing, I’ve written several myself in the past and remember the pressure. I have must supervised over 100 in the 14 or so years I’ve been in Higher Education and the process and outcome has always been the same, but I have always pondered “how valuable is writing a dissertation for students in the world of work”? Research skills are important, ability to write a report also important, ability to provide a critical analysis of a topic is always useful - alas for my budding entrepreneurial students they struggle to see the value, and “I get it”. Going forward the University has approved that students can opt to “start a business” instead of the traditional dissertation - with a business mentor rather than a academic supervisor, this is progress that is long overdue and will certainly have a real world impact for many students going forward! Having started my first business many moons ago at University, it set me up to now have the ability to teach for the love of teaching, support startups and push forward with my endless slightly strange endeavours in the name of “entrepreneurship”. Cornell Armada, founded by Rishi Gurjar ’27, Ronald Leung ’27, Simon Ilincev ’27 and Rahul Ramarao ’27, is an entrepreneurial club of approximately 20 students. The name, Gurjar explains, refers to the group’s mission — helping members ship viable products “[We thought], ‘if we’re meeting once a week anyway to work on our stuff, [we] might as well invite our friends,’ and those friends started to like it, and then they invited their friends,” Gurjar said. “We were able to harness the power of builders, because we found this unique thing about Cornell where people building things knew each other, and creative people knew each other.” Skai Nzeuton ’27, a member of the club, said that Armada is a supplement to, but not a replacement for, existing entrepreneurial resources at the University. “[Armada] is more of an action-focused group, whereas at eHub, you can meet other people talking about ideas,” Nzeuton said. “[In Armada], a lot of the focus is building and shipping products.” “It’s motivating, because if you’re sitting around other people who are actually working, it forces you to ship features,” said Wyatt Sell ’27, a member of the club. “It’s important to put [goals] on the board because you have something that you are concretely trying to achieve, rather than messing about on making buttons pretty.” #entrepreneurship #resources #studentclub https://lnkd.in/eJ3_H2_n
