📈 Kreios Space has successfully closed its Pre-Seed funding round, securing €2.3 million to advance the development and testing of its pioneering Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion (ABEP) engine. Key Highlights: 🔹Funding Sources: Private investments from Grow Venture Partners, Xesgalicia, SpaceQuest Ventures, Tasivia Global, a crowdfunding campaign via Startupxplore, a loan from ENISA, and a Neotec 2023 grant from CDTI. 🔹Purpose of Funding: Supports laboratory testing, construction of new facilities, and team expansion to bring the ABEP engine to market. 🔹Technological Innovation: The ABEP engine, utilizing solar energy and atmospheric air, aims to enable satellites to operate at Very Low Earth Orbits (VLEO) below 350 km. 🔹Benefits of VLEO: Potential to reduce mission costs by up to 50%, enhance Earth observation and telecommunications, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions during launches. 🗣️ “This funding round is a major milestone for Kreios Space. 🚀 Exciting News in Space Logistics! 🌌 D-Orbit, the Italian space logistics firm, has successfully closed a two-part Series C funding round, raising a whopping 150 million euros! 💸 This new inflow of capital is set to revolutionise space-based cloud computing and in-orbit servicing systems, pushing the frontier of what's possible in space logistics. D-Orbit has already achieved impressive milestones with 16 missions and 14 ION orbital transfer vehicles flown, and seven more missions lined up for 2025. The Series C round was led by Japan's Marubeni Corp, with participation from notable investors including Avantgarde, CDP Venture Capital, and the European Innovation Council. This investment is not just about increasing numbers but fundamentally transforming D-Orbit's operations and accelerating global initiatives in space transportation and logistics. The new funds will enable D-Orbit to delve deeper into in-orbit servicing and space-based cloud computing while developing new space vehicles focused on satellite-life extension and space-debris removal. The aim is to create a 'circular space economy,' turning space debris into valuable resources and facilitating the manufacture of interplanetary spacecraft. This ambitious step is set to propel the industry towards sustainable space exploration and utilisation. The aim is to bring such projects to terrestrial demonstration in markets that are already available on Earth today and ultimately to the Moon. The model that we are proposing provides the right balance. ESA will make available funding to support the growth of commercial solutions that are supported by credible business cases, allowing to bring on-board private investors to support these ventures,” explains Francesco Liucci, Innovation Management Officer at ESA (BSGN). “In a context in which fundraising is particularly challenging, we are building a win-win ecosystem whereby scale-ups can secure public funding while sustaining space exploration efforts resulting in innovations. This endeavour would also bring solutions to the Moon and back to Earth, thus attracting private investors. The lunar economy offers an exciting environment to experiment with various technologies, and we are looking forward to working alongside our future partners and support the next Moon trailblazers,” highlighted Alex Godlewski from ESRIC. To achieve this, U-Nyx is the perfect match!
