Our initiatives focus on: 👉 Providing access to innovative crop protection solutions 👉 Offering training in sustainable farming practices 👉 Supporting access to digital tools Samira Amellal, our Director, emphasizes: "Women farmers are the backbone of food security in our region. Accelerating sustainable development incorporates empowering women farmers !! African women are not only the ones who are destined to carry out backbreaking house chores and are accountable to look after their children and the entire families. They are also the ones who bear the responsibility of taking care of the economy of their family. Women`s role in supporting the economy of their family goes beyond fetching water, cooking food, or undertaking any other household chores. They also directly engage in farming activities and contribute significantly to food production and the agricultural sector`s growth. However, despite this effort, they are not seen benefiting from the fruits of their hands. In most cases, women in agriculture, compared to their counterparts, are vulnerable to poverty and have limited access to resources and opportunities. To this end, empowering them through training and improving access to market and financial services are suggested by experts to help lift them out of poverty and create sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍 𝐃𝐀𝐘 The International Day of Rural Women, celebrated on October 15th each year, highlights the essential role that rural women play in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security, and eradicating rural poverty. But, less than 15% of Agricultural Landholders are Women. For 2024, the theme is "Empowering Rural Women for Sustainable Food Systems," To improve the productivity of rural women and achieve SDG2, several strategies could be implemented: 𝐴𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝐸𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔: Providing rural women with education and training opportunities can enhance their agricultural knowledge and skills. 𝐴𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑠: Ensuring rural women have equitable access to resources such as land, seeds, tools, and irrigation can significantly boost productivity. 𝑇𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛: Introducing affordable and appropriate technologies can help rural women save time and labor, improving efficiency and productivity. Mobile technology can be particularly beneficial, offering access to weather forecasts, market information, and farming advice. 𝐹𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑆𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡: Providing access to microfinance and credit can enable rural women to invest in their agricultural activities, purchase necessary inputs, and establish small businesses. 𝐵𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑁𝑒𝑡𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐶𝑜𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑠: Encouraging the formation of women's cooperatives and networks can foster collaboration and collective bargaining power. 𝑃𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐴𝑑𝑣𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑐𝑦: Governments and organizations should advocate for policies that support rural women, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes. 𝐿𝑒𝑔𝑎𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑠: Legal reforms may be necessary to secure land ownership rights for women, thereby promoting more sustainable farming practices. 📌R𝐨a𝐝 𝐭o 2𝟎3𝟎, C𝐨m𝐦i𝐭 𝐭o 1 G𝐨a𝐥 𝐭o𝐝a𝐲‼️ #IRWD #internationalruralwomenday #ruralwomen #sdg2 #foodsecurity #agriculture #women #amaanafrica #cameroon #awareness #africa #activism #volunteering #advocacy #unsdg #globalgoals #food #education #training #resources #technology #financialservices #innovation #network #cooperatives #policy #legalreforms #legal #sdg17 #landholders #sdg1
