Today, I want to speak about the importance of women knowing their worth, especially in the automotive trade. For too long, women have been seen as a checkbox exercise, included for the sake of diversity and inclusion rather than for their undeniable skills and contributions. It's time for that to change. Women in the automotive industry bring unique perspectives, innovative solutions, and unmatched dedication. However, it's not enough to simply include women; we must also value and respect their expertise. Women should never feel compelled to offer their skills for free or be taken advantage of under the guise of inclusivity. Recognize your worth. Demand fair compensation for your work, and never settle for anything less. Your knowledge and talents are not just valuable—they are essential to the growth and evolution of this industry. I speak from personal experience over the past few months, where I have been asked to take part in events at my own expense to benefit someone else’s idea or business. Needless to say - i have turned them down! Let’s ensure that diversity and inclusion are not mere buzzwords, but a true reflection of respect and equality. Together, we can create a future where every woman in the automotive trade is recognized for her worth, and where her contributions are celebrated and fairly rewarded. Thank you. #WomenInAutomotive #KnowYourWorth #WomenInTheTrade #DiversityInclusion #RespectAndEquality #WomenInMotorsports #EmpoweredWomen #BreakingBarriers #InclusionMatters #WomenInEngineering #EqualOpportunities #GenderEquality #WomenInTrades #FemaleMechanics #DiverseAndInclusive #WomenEmpowerment #WomenInTech #WomenWhoWrench #RespectWomen #WomenLeaders

Louise, I think people sometimes forget that people like you that care about the industry and getting young girls and boys involved actually have day jobs and businesses to run. You are doing a great job and sometimes you have to say no. We are proud to have you as one of our School of Thought (Automotive) Ambassadors but just think what could be achieved if like the NHS we had an army of thousands doing just a little bit that won’t eat into their valuable time. That’s why Julie Eley CMIOSH and myself set up the School of Thought (Automotive) Ambassadors. Anyone who would like to help out and be proactive like Louise Baker just drop me a message to dave@ready4work.uk or through our website www.schoolofthoughtautomotive.co.uk Keep flying the flag Louise you’re a superstar.
