Optum inks operational partnership with Wisconsin health system, will hire 800+ employees Am I missing something but why would the C suite at hospitals and health systems want to contract with Optum, given it is a United Health Care Company that tries every trick up its sleeve to weasel its way out of paying providers. They create an administrative nightmare to get paid for services rendered, deny for medical necessity, deny SNF admissions, use their software to predict "optimal" length of stay for posthospital rehab and let the beneficiary fend for themselves, put the provider through countless prior authorization mazes until the provider gives up. I feel bad for the employees that are transferred to the payroll of Optum from the hospital. Their jobs are subject to axing in the name of "efficiency," shipping these jobs to overseas or to a central location where you cannot ever get anyone on the phone. This is what Optum has done at Northern Light, I try to call the physician's office and you wait on hold forever until you get someone in Bangor who simply takes a message and forwards it to the office you are trying to reach in the first place. #optum, #offshorejobs, #savingmoney, #costcutting, #ruthless, #shortchangeproviders, #profitsfirst, #technology, https://lnkd.in/ev6eAauy

Wow! 549 Followers! I am extremely grateful for all of you. I made a point in Q4 of last year to want to build my network on this platform, and I feel validated in my work by being at this number. The reason for that work was simple. I want to have conversations with Healthcare Professionals. If you or someone on your team works in an Outpatient Scheduling Setting, ask yourself, "Is the work easy?" Strong chances are the answer is a firm no. There are snags all over the process of referring a patient to finishing scheduling them and it is not limited by the good people that do these jobs, but particular steps limited by how the communication and transfer of information is performed. BREAKING - OPTUM, SSM HEALTH END ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP AFTER LESS THAN TWO YEARS. St. Louis-based SSM Health and UnitedHealth Group's Optum have ended their administrative partnership around inpatient care management, digital transformation and revenue cycle management. The health system declined to provide any additional information when asked on January 3rd. The partnership was announced in October 2021 and formally began in early 2022. The deal included the hiring of some SSM employees by Optum. "We don't have the capability to do everything — no one does," SSM President and CEO Laura Kaiser told Becker's in 2021. "And so we started, as part of our strategy, to look for partners and how do we not duplicate, but rather collect and lean in together to get farther down the road." Hospitals and health systems that have previously outsourced administrative functions to Optum include Waukesha, Wis.-based ProHealth Care; Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Bassett Healthcare Network; Greenbrae, Calif.-based MarinHealth; Boulder (Colo.) The biggest mistake that we've seen our commercial clients make is this: Hiring SOLELY based off a rolodex. You interview someone that appears to have an awesome rolodex. They're tight with the CEO of Northwell Health. Allegedly have the entire Aetna c-suite on speed dial. You hire them, then six months later, realize you've been duped. This is why hiring based on rolodex doesn't cut it. Yes it's great to have contacts at health plans and payers, not denying that. However people move jobs where your solution might not be a fit. Your buddy over at BCBS might have their hands tied because they just inked a deal with a similar solution. Relying fully on someone's network will put your pipeline at risk. You need true hunters to keep the pipeline going. Experienced and competitive sellers who know how to navigate the payer/health plan ecosystem without relying on their network to open a door. #digitalhealth is absolutely a "who you know" business and relationships are paramount but so is the ability to form new ones from the ground up.
