Where were you 15 years ago? DGCooley & Co., in its first iteration, began 15 years ago today - Happy Anniversary to Us! The traditional 15th anniversary gift is crystal - symbolizing lightness, clarity, and durability. And we certainly like to think we’ve achieved all three. 🪂 Lightness - When you’re doing worthwhile work with great people, it doesn’t feel like a heavy lift. 🧐 Clarity - 15 years of so many different kinds of projects in a dozen plus industries means we can often spot issues (and solutions!) from a mile away. 💪 Durability - We’re still here, serving repeat clients, through recession and tech downturns. And - oh yeah - COVID-19. One trait that keeps us around is our pragmatic approach. Our founder has an undergraduate degree in engineering and a master’s in Human Factors from a business school. The blend of these perspectives helps ensure we don’t sacrifice a business goal for a user need (or vice-versa) or propose a solution that isn’t technically feasible. Another thing that makes us different is that we are industry-agnostic. We’ve been privileged to work in automotive, financial services, healthcare, medical devices, several flavors of nonprofits, law, cannabis, associations, agriculture, public utilities, home appliances, reinsurance, telecommunications, and more. There’s nothing we love more than applying learnings from one industry to a totally different one. Even better, we got to work with so many very smart and very fun people! As a founder, I must own that our intentions, though pure, fell short in providing proper notice to some of our cherished early adopters. We were simply "doing the work" promised from the start – getting diverse talent booked. At EBO, we pride ourselves on making bookings fast, efficient, and inclusive. Chaos! Last year when we ventured to start our own entity it was full of Chaos! Obviously in the beginning we had good deal of information on what we wanted to accomplish, and we were quite clear on our Vision. However, the market uncertainties and initial failures kept knocking us back to the wall! The most important thing what as a startup we did is - we stopped seeking too much of clarity of the situation and started giving our commitment to make things work! We learnt it in our way that "Chaos and Uncertainty are best friends of a Startup!" Which will make us thrive hard and give our best to excel in our goals! Who would have thought that - The idea which started on a causal coffee break! The plan which was jotted on a dinner table paper napkin! And the team who stood with me for a decade through the thick and the thin! All put together builds an entity and here we stand tall at the first milestone celebrating the First birthday of our baby – “Agnile Technologies”! Amazing! It was an action-packed year, nothing less than raising a baby where each moment was filled with surprises! every small stuff made us to feel the joy and every tiny hurdle made us to feel like climbing a mountain! But what we enjoyed the most is ‘The Journey Of Raising An Organisation!’ Now, at the end of year ONE! When I recap what we achieved? Our both verticals ‘Product House’ and ‘Service House’ are doing extremely great and It’s really satisfying as these accomplishments were done when the market is facing severe headwind with various Geopolitical & Technological uncertainties! We were positive in using the headwind and steering our organization to takeoff! Now it’s time to convert the startup into a scaleup! This is a watershed year for Entytle, Inc.. We celebrate our 10th anniversary - which by itself is an achievement in the world of entrepreneurship. But in a twist, we plan to recognize multiple dates during the year that are meaningful to the formation of this company. Every organization has dates that hold special significance to the origin story. Back in 2013, my friend Steve Uhlir and I had stepped away from our respective professional endeavors, and we started discussing various problems that we had encountered during our 12+ years of working together. Specifically, he and I had spent time in a large Services organization - him as the VP of Engineering, and me as VP of Marketing. So we naturally gravitated towards this aspect of an OEM’s business, and before long, we were batting around ideas that could (and should) be explored. But like everyone else in a “pre-entrepreneurship” stage, we were both somewhat busy with other projects, and we met occasionally to explore these ideas further. It was clear that many of our ideas held promise, but part-time work was never going to cut it. At least not for us. So we made a commitment to “run down” various ideas to see if they made sense, and were worthy of investing our time, imagination and money! As many of these discussions were taking place in late 2013, we agreed (somewhat arbitrarily!) that we would get together on the “first Monday of January 2014” in an office space my co-founder Sujata Joshi and I had rented for our personal use. That date was January 6, 2014. And shortly thereafter Entytle was born!
