Many studies have shown that underrepresentation of diverse health professionals impacts the quality of care for chronically underserved populations. A historical mistrust in #HealthCare within those same communities and a lack of #CulturalCompetency continues to impact the quality of care that intentionally marginalized populations receive. This is a problem. During June of 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned affirmative action, race-based college admissions, in the case of Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard. Many organizations, including NMF, are seeking new pathways to tackle the impact of this ruling and address underrepresentation in earlier school years. "The National Medical Association, an organization for Black physicians, is raising money for a new scholarship. The Association of American Medical Colleges will get involved in K-12 education for the first time." The time is now to increase #representation. "Experts say...the earliest years of education through medical school and beyond must be removed." Learn more at nmfonline.org about how you can get involved with NMF to create a more just and equitable world. Reference: https://bloom.bg/4awmIZg

🎓 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙚𝙬𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣!🩺 The Albert Einstein College of Medicine has set a groundbreaking precedent by offering tuition-free education to all its students, thanks to a monumental $1 billion donation. This transformative initiative promises to reshape the future of healthcare education and accessibility. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: The initiative underscores a crucial shift in how medical education can be approached, prioritizing accessibility to cultivate excellence. It challenges the traditional norms of medical school financing and could set a precedent for other institutions to follow. 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲:This model could lead to a more diverse and debt-free new generation of healthcare professionals, potentially impacting areas like primary care, where there is a significant need but often less financial incentive compared to specialized fields. 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The donation highlights the significant impact philanthropy can have on education, particularly in fields where the cost of training is a major barrier to entry. It raises questions about the sustainability of such models and the potential for replication by other institutions. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine's move to tuition-free education represents a significant milestone in higher education, particularly in the medical field, where the cost of education can be prohibitively expensive. This initiative not only broadens access to medical education but also serves as a model for how philanthropy can facilitate significant changes in the landscape of higher education, promoting diversity, equity, and excellence in the medical profession. We #SoDRM look to follow this model in near future!💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿 What is your costs of intelligence? #MedicalEducation #DiversityInMedicine #HealthcareInnovation #Philanthropy #FutureOfHealthcare

I watched this video three times and I cried three times ... I asked myself why 🤔 Eventually, I think that this is because it conveys such an extraordinary message of - generosity - social inclusion - intergenerational solidarity - the power of education in creating self-empowerment and dignity - the multiplier effect of health-care workers on human health as a pre-requisite for well-being. We must strive to make these cases ordinary. Let's give our best to find the right recipe in every action for sustainable development! The people that we serve deserve it. system thinking , foresight, UN2.0, Madagascar Quintet of Change Lab
