We were delighted to collaborate with the Lower Thames Crossing team to host an engaging 'Listen and Learn' session focused on social value, inclusion, and diversity in infrastructure delivery. The event brought together industry leaders from both Tarmac and the Lower Thames Crossing to share insights, best practices, and our collective vision for creating lasting positive impacts on communities and the environment. Key highlights included: - A deep dive into the Lower Thames Crossing’s social value strategy, led by Natalie Bonnick MCIPS, Lawrence Vasu - Chartered MCIPD, and Lauren Edmunds. - An introduction to Tarmac’s refreshed Social Value Policy, presented by Charlotte Hobster, outlining our renewed commitments and focus areas for 2025. - A Q&A session where we explored opportunities to collaborate on skills development, influence social value delivery, and maximise the long-term benefits of this transformative project. As Natalie Bonnick MCIPS from Lower Thames Crossing emphasised: "Our local communities are at the heart of what we do, and we will ensure to work in partnership with them throughout the entire project. So, it’s brilliant that we have this opportunity to work very closely with Tarmac and the wider supply chain to ensure we deliver the Lower Thames Crossing in the best way, not just ensuring that our project is delivered with minimal carbon impact but also making it beneficial for our local communities." Tarmac's National Business Development Director, Alex Wright, added: "The Lower Thames Crossing is a project of generational significance that will have a profound impact on the area, not only in terms of operations but also economically, by enhancing connectivity and efficiency, as well as benefiting the local community. Its focus on social value gives us the opportunity to make a meaningful difference." Thank you to our presenters, Natalie Bonnick MCIPS, Victoria King, Lauren Edmunds, Lawrence Vasu - Chartered MCIPD, Louise Houston, Charlotte Hobster, Alex Wright and Andrew Rowley, and to all who joined us for the Listen and Learn session. Together, we’re building infrastructure that benefits everyone.
