Not often you get a nice walk through the woods to a site meeting. A beautiful location for a potential replacement dwelling just outside Henley-on-Thames. Just a National Trust Covenant, a Local Wildlife designation, Ancient Woodland and Green Belt to overcome so a nice interesting challenge. #planningpermission #planning

I used to think that leadership was rarified air. Like so many others, I’d accepted that some people just didn’t have that leadership potential. And I’d accepted I was one of those people that didn’t have the gene. But staying cynical is a choice, and it’s often an easy out. It lets us off the hook for taking responsibility, exerting the emotional labour, and doing the hard work of making a change. I’ve since come to realize that everyone has leadership potential—we’ve all got the gene. It’s part of being human, which means we can figure it all out together. You don’t have to use that potential if you don’t want to, because it is hard work. But now I know that’s a choice too. The scary part isn’t whether or not you have the potential to be a leader. The scary part is realizing you’re already a leader—and that you’ve got to choose action and risk failure. The good news is that’s part of being human too. But don’t take it from me, take it from Ms. Goodall…

If you have had the good sense to read Mark Avery latest book 'Reflections' or Guy Shrubsole's 'Lie Of The Land' you will know that it's imperative for areas of land to be owned by non farming and non shooting interests so it can be truly dedicated to nature. This is one such opportunity to help do just that - the bigger the patch, or the closer it is to an existing area for nature (farmed or not), or the more it holds things we need more of (can I say woodland here please??), the better. Bigger is always better of course but a network of little plots is good too.

Wildlife presence is an indicator of habitat quality, suggests Artur, hydrobiologist at Rewilding Oder Delta in our film Why Not Scotland?. 🌱 But the natural world is our habitat, too. If wildlife is in decline, what does that mean for humans? 💚 We are part of nature, not apart from it. Let’s restore the natural landscapes we all depend on for food, water and our wellbeing.
