Let's talk about one of the most important parts of your interview - making sure that you have the right lighting! Pro-Tip: As soon as you walk into the room where you'll be conducting the interview, cut off all of the lights. This will allow you to get a base setting for the room. Today, one of our Cinematographers, Patrick Lebby, is giving you the details on how to build the ideal lighting setup for your next interview! #loydvisuals #tipsforfilmmakers #charlottefilm

How to get cinematic interview shots 👇🏾 1. CLEAN STAGING Before you just setup lights and shoot away—take a second and analyze the space. Are you in the right spot? Are there any distractions? Set up the best looking location for multiple angles. 2. MULTIPLE ANGLES Always try to have at LEAST 2 angles on your subject. A good rule of thumb is to have a “centered”, main angle—then another camera 30° to the side of the interviewees face. 3. SHADOW SIDE LIGHT Try to frame your subject to where your light is coming from the far side of their face (so if your light is coming from the left, the interviewee should be looking to the right at camera). 4. RULE OF THIRDS Rules can/are meant to be broken, but for the most part, you should try to frame the subject with the rule of thirds in mind. Use your camera or monitors grids to ensure this (but also shoot high-resolution enough to be able to reframe in post). Tried my best to squeeze what I could in this caption, but definitely comment or DM with additional questions! ✨ #charlottevideographer #videographytips #filmmakingtips #ncvideographer

Interviews, talking heads, pieces to camera, whatever they go by, these are the staple of many videos. Even though it may just look like someone sat in front of a camera having a chat, a lot goes into the process to make sure these sections look as slick as possible on screen. Good preparation always shines through. Putting the subject at ease and creating an environment that feels as natural as possible all contribute to the success of this style of filming. But when it comes down to it, capturing the subject in the most true to life situation is what we're aiming for. Whatever your technique, the end results are what really matter. #corporatevideo #videoproduction #talkingheads

In front of my lens, you’re the star. ⭐️ The best part of directing on-camera interviews is that I get to show the subjects in their best light. And, maybe, help people remember why they’re worth showing off. Your talent, my mirror 🪞 It’s that simple. #Director #Creative #Video

My secrets to getting clients comfortable on camera 🤳🏽 Fun Fact : I never say when I start recording lol I usually just start talking about random stuff or something we talked about previously to get their mind off what they are going to be talking about. My people know their stuff and my job is to just bring it out of them. And just like that I get their mind off of filming and just talking about what they know. We also plan everything out in a deep dive call before we even get to the shoot. We don't use scripts all our interviews are just conversations. It Works every time they usually catch on about two questions in but by then they are already warmed up and ready to go. 😉🎥🔥 #videomarketing #filmmaking #interview

What does a quick interview shoot look like? (90min) 🎥😎 Things to consider: - Limited set up time: 2 person on set, use smaller lights and lav mics - Limited space: use the feature wall as backdrop (as lack of depth) - Ability to make cuts: shoot on 2 cameras of different angles - Nervy subjects: tell dumb jokes to get them relaxed - Put room back as it was. In and out in less than 2 hours. #videoproduction #interview #bosh
