When any BOPIS order is placed by a customer, the store associate gets notified so they can start preparing the item for pick up as soon as possible. But what if they find inventory is not available or if it the remaining inventory is damaged? With the HotWax Commerce BOPIS fulfillment app, store associates are able to reject orders they cannot fulfill, and the customer receives an email at the same time with two options: 1. In an effort to "bridge the digital divide," Stop & Shop has unveiled kiosks that are designed to give customers the chance to secure digital coupons, even without a smartphone or computer handy. Labeled as "Savings Station" kiosks, customers can take advantage of this by scanning their GO Rewards loyalty card or entering their phone number while at the station to load digital coupons and offers based on their shopping history. Isn't it fascinating how hyper-delivery and q-commerce are reshaping consumer experiences? I just came across a post where a CEO proudly shared that their company now includes a box of chocolates with every iPhone order, delivered in under 10 minutes! Talk about sweetening the deal. But it got me thinking—what's next? Imagine a future where you can pre-book a warm hug from the CEO for a cool million dollars. The hug, of course, would be delivered in under 10 minutes (efficiency is key), and as a 'thank you,' you'd be gifted a free apartment. Yes, you read that right—a free apartment, just for embracing this new level of customer service. While this might sound far-fetched today, it seems we're not far off from a reality where convenience, speed, and a little extra surprise become the new norm. Will shoppers in the future skip the checkout lane? That's the idea that Walmart-owned Sam's Club is testing at its newest store, which opens in mid-October in the Dallas area. All customers at that club will have to use a smartphone app to ring up their purchases. The store will turn the cash register area into a display for online-only items. And there will be more space devoted to preparing e-commerce orders for pickup and delivery. What do you think of these digital features?
