I’ve been following Mid-Day Squares for years now, even before they started to be available stateside. They even sent me a case of them when it was hard for me to find them!!! The amount of transparency Jake Karls have Lezlie Karls shown from their beginnings to present has been nothing short of inspiring. They have told stories their wins and challenges in a way that people buy into both the product and the culture of the company that created it. Thank you for showing the human side of running a business. Thank you for showing us the good, bad and ugly of entrepreneurship. Thank you for normalizing taking a sabbatical to take care of YOU! Thought of the Day: “Some folk, all they got is the nerve…”— Tabitha Brown I’ve noticed the more I trudge down this ole path of mine, the more folk hit me with their negativity, unsolicited advice, and just plain foolishness. At first, it bothered me and then I saw this clip where Tabitha Brown’s words of wisdom made it all plain. So all the folks who only have “the nerve” to speak negatively on your progress, career/business decisions, etc., let them. Stand firm in who you are and in the circle of support you have surrounded yourself with. Greet their “nerve” with grace and a smile because they can’t see where you’ve been so they surely won’t understand where you are going. They won’t be apart of the celebration when the goals have been reached. They won’t partake in the abundance that comes after that hard work. No matter the injustices and tragedies we witness collectively and personally, we lead teams and run companies with the bitterness, sadness and rage rising like bile in the back of our throats, masked with a smile and that “go-getter” attitude. We’ve disassociated from and ignored our physical, spiritual, mental and emotional health, rebranding this as “professionalism” and “showing up.” To those in my community struggling, I see you. I feel you. I empathize because I am navigating these rocky waters with you. We cannot be empty pitchers expected to pour into multiple cups. At some point, we have to engage with these complex emotions, so that we can show up in all areas of our lives and be the strength that our families, communities, and professional teams we lead. Remember… *It is okay to not be okay. *It is your human right to feel and process your emotions. *It is okay to cry. *It is okay acknowledge your humanity and have your humanity acknowledged. *No matter how the events in the world make us feel powerless, we are powerful.
