As the unified voice of professional footballers in Latvia, we are dedicated to protecting and promoting the interests of players across the nation. ⚽️🇱🇻 Our association strives to ensure that every player, both current and former, receives the support, representation, and resources they deserve throughout their careers and beyond. 🛡️🏆 At LAPF, we firmly believe in the strength of unity. By bringing players together in solidarity, we create a powerful collective voice capable of advocating for fair treatment, protection, and promotion of the rights of footballers across Latvia. 🤝🗣️ In the dynamic landscape of professional football, players often face challenges and uncertainties. However, through association, players gain a platform to voice their concerns, address issues, and collectively negotiate for better conditions, both on and off the pitch. 🏟️📢 A club may have the authority to dismiss an individual player, but it cannot disregard the collective strength of an entire team or league. 💪⚽️ Through collaboration and mutual support, we empower players to stand firm against any injustices or unfair practices they may encounter. 🛡️🤜🤛

💡⚽️ Insight of the week ⚽️💡 In 1999, a crucial turning point for club football occurred when ENIC's ownership of both AEK and Sparta led to a UEFA investigation. This was triggered when both clubs qualified for European competition, raising potential conflicts of interest. As a result, a new rule was implemented that prevented two clubs with the same majority shareholders from facing each other in the same European competition. At the time, this was a somewhat unusual scenario. However, the succeeding years have seen an increase in instances where a single entity owns multiple clubs, turning this once-oddity into a global phenomenon. Consequently, this has ignited further discussions and investigations into club ownership rules and regulations. Should it be the same in women's football or if the rules were 'adjusted' for a period would this allow more money to flow into the women's game and create a better product? I'd love to hear your thoughts 👇👇👇

EFAA Takes Notice of FIFPRO's Legal Claim Against FIFA Today, FIFPRO Europe member unions have submitted a legal claim against FIFA, challenging the unilateral decisions regarding the International Match Calendar and the scheduling of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. This move highlights the violation of players' rights under the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and EU competition law. The European Football Agents Association (EFAA) has taken notice of FIFPRO's actions and recognizes the concerns raised about the lack of consultation from FIFA. This issue is felt by various stakeholders within the football industry. It is our hope that proper consultation becomes a cornerstone of FIFA's governance moving forward. We acknowledge FIFPRO's call for the Brussels Court of Commerce to refer this matter to the European Court of Justice. Ensuring that the fundamental rights of players and the principles of fair competition are upheld is crucial for the football community. #FIFPRO #EFAA #FootballGovernance #PlayerRights #FIFA #EUCharter #CollectiveBargaining #FootballUnions https://lnkd.in/gVPcVA8K

⚽ The English Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) along with the Players' Union FIFPro and the World Leagues Association filed a lawsuit against the International Football Federation (FIFA). These organizations are challenging FIFA's decision to stage the Intercontinental Cup in December 2024, with teams also playing at the Club World Cup in the US six months later. 👉The PFA emphasizes the need to respect players' rights and ensure adequate rest time. The PFA's chief executive, Maheta Molango, warns that the fixture calendar is overloaded and often ignores the players' needs. But FIFA is refusing to change plans for next year's Club World Cup despite the threat of legal action. ℹ️The growing number of matches and the lack of days off have been criticized by several players, which underlines the importance of the work of trade unions such as the PFA. These organizations are constantly working to protect the rights of players and ensure their legal rights as employees in the football industry. 🔗You can read more information about the topic at: https://lnkd.in/ePb48c6t #technologiesunionsslovakia #itmakessense

One of the biggest factors here, is the transfer of such facilities into the hands of specific sports clubs to run, manage and upkeep. Or much worse, letting the facilities fall into disuse completely due to financial pressures. Councils often feel like they cannot oversee the operations given the limited budgets at their disposal. It's scenarios like this that make me extra proud of the helping hand we can give councils like Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Oxford City Council and East Renfrewshire Council to manage their estate in a way that is sustainable in terms of generating revenue, and ensuring the admin of doing so isn't overwhelming. #localgov #councils #sports facilities
Almost 1,000 publicly owned football pitches have been lost in the UK since 2010. Data from trade union GMB shows there are 926 fewer pitches in 2023 than there were in 2010. The worst-hit part of the UK was Scotland, which lost 271 pitches during the period. All the other worst-hit areas were in Northern England and Wales. The publication of the data coincides with both the England and Scotland men’s football teams getting their #Euro2024 campaigns away in Germany.
