From 2024, #Lithuania 🇱🇹 will provide a facility to accommodate the European Union 🇪🇺 medical stockpile provisions required to manage cross-border threats and to ensure an effective response to crises at the Community level. 💊 As part of the #rescEU project, Lithuania will set up a warehouse to store medical supplies to meet the requirements of the #EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The European Commission will allocate 97 million euros for the provision of this facility. 💬 “The hosting of one of the EU’s medical stockpiles in Lithuania is an important responsibility for our country. This project is important for building safe living conditions for Europeans in the face of crises and threats, and can only be successfully implemented with the harmonious cooperation of all professionals in the field. Great news! 👏 The European Commission has approved a €180 million State aid scheme to support electricity storage facilities - the State of #Lithuania 🇱🇹 will support up to 30% of investment costs. This paves the way for the growth of new electricity storage capacity, which will ensure the smooth integration of electricity generation from renewable sources into the system, contribute to the development of a competitive balancing market, and significantly increase both national and #Baltic ⚡️ energy security. 💬 "With solar and wind power having quadrupled in four years and continuing to grow rapidly, it is essential to secure appropriate balancing solutions for the electricity system that provide the technical capacity to both increase and decrease the generation and consumption of electricity. State support for investments in batteries will ensure the sustainable and rapid development of renewable energy, favourable electricity prices for consumers and energy independence," said Dainius Kreivys, Minister of Energy. 💡 Under the scheme, aid will be granted to legal entities in the form of direct grants to support the installation of at least 1200 MWh of new electricity storage capacity. The State will support all electricity storage technologies directly connected to the transmission grid or power plants connected to the transmission grid at the same point. The projects will be selected through a competitive procedure and the maximum aid intensity will be 30 % of the relevant investment costs. More details - link below in the comments.
