🎉 My first time presenting at EDUCAUSE 2024 in San Antonio, and it was an absolute blast! 🎉 I’m grateful for everyone who dropped by my poster session, "A Practical Guide for Educators to Leverage AI Literacy to Foster Engagement and Creativity in Teaching" and shared valuable insights into how your schools have been supporting faculty and student with using AI in the classroom. For those who are interested in learning my poster, it presented a five-step, action-driven process which I called "AI is EEEEEasy" (the 5 Es stand for Educate - Experiment - Engage - Evaluate - Evolve) to help faculty navigate and integrate AI thoughtfully and responsibly into their teaching practices. You can check out a short introduction video below! 🎥 Reflecting on the conference as a whole, certainly it wouldn't surprise anyone that AI was discussed extensively and personally I felt both inspired and a little concerned how rapid AI has been adopted and transforming higher education. While large institutions like ASU are investing heavily in AI infrastructure, adapting/building their own AI models, and showcasing impressive use cases of how AI is transforming not only teaching and learning but also administrative operations to enhance the college experience, smaller, less-resourced colleges are struggling to keep up with the unprecedentedly rapid advancement of AI. As someone who has been deeply involved in faculty professional development, I think the work of training and upskilling educators as quickly as possible has become more critical than ever before and we urgently need a more effective and creative approach to develop AI literacy for educators and students so that they can thrive in the age of AI.
