💝 One for you, one for me: the psychology of giving. Gift-giving is a tradition that goes way back – almost to the dawn of mankind! So why do we give gifts, putting time and money into little things without expecting anything in return? The benefits of gift giving are varied – and they are as good for the giver as the receiver, if not more so. 1- It's a pleasure to please: (kindness is (and always will be) “in”.). 2- Stronger Bonds: the act of giving creates a bond between you and the recipient. 3- The power of empathy: you want to please the recipient – whether it's a nice surprise or something to cheer her/him up. 4- Express gratitude: it is a sign that you recognize the important place that such a person occupies in your life. 5- It is (sometimes) reciprocal: we don't like to admit it, but sometimes we give gifts in the hope of receiving something in return. Sometimes we even fear receiving a gift because of what it will entail later. That doesn't mean you're not generous or that you want people to be "indebted" to you. It just means that you want to build a balanced relationship, where both parties are treated equally. THANK YOU ... too! 🙂
