Allegretto Airs from Paganini is a suite in three movements based on themes taken from the famous 24 Caprices Op. 1 for solo violin by Niccolò Paganini (1782 - 1840). This composition is not a collection of pieces by Paganini arranged for band, but it is an original work of elaboration, since the melodic lines of the Caprices were selected, enriched and developed into broader forms. The third movement is a rondo taken from Caprices No. 8 in Eb major and No. 9 in E major, which ends with the recapitulation of the initial march theme. The work is intended for medium-level concert bands (the degree of difficulty is 3.5). There are many guides and replacements in the score, to allow performance even for bands without complete instrumentation. For this reason, instruments marked optional are not essential and could be omitted. The total duration of the suite is approximately ten minutes.
