In the oil and gas industry, a drill bit is a tool designed to produce a generally cylindrical hole (wellbore) in the Earth’s crust by the rotary drilling method for the discovery and extraction of hydrocarbons such as crude oil and natural gas. This type of tool is alternately referred to as a rock bit, or simply a bit. The hole diameter produced by drill bits is quite small, from about 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) to 30 inches (76 cm), compared to the depth of the hole, which can range from 1,000 feet (300 m) to more than 30,000 feet (9,100 m). Subsurface formations are broken apart mechanically by cutting elements of the bit by scraping, grinding or localized compressive fracturing. #ASXNews Additional copper-rich massive sulphides in drilling at Caribou Dome PolarX Limited is pleased to announce that the core drilling program at the high-grade Caribou Dome Copper Project in Alaska has intersected 8.3m (CD24-002) and 12.65m (CD24-003) thick zones of #copper-bearing massive sulphides. These intersections are beneath hole CD21-001 which intercepted 19.1m @ 7.0% Cu + 11.2 g/t Ag and 9.8m @ 6.8% Cu + 7.8 g/t Ag in 2021. CD24-001 intersected a narrow ‘slither’ of mineralisation that provided insightful fault offset information which was used successfully to target mineralisation intersected in CD24-002 and CD24-003. • New core drilling at the high-grade Caribou Dome Copper Project has intersected 8.3m and 12.65m thick zones of copper-bearing massive sulphides beneath CD21-001 drilled in 2021. • All three core drill holes drilled this season have intersected mineralisation. • Deeper drilling beneath the massive sulphides intersected in holes CD24-002 and CD24-003 is currently underway. • Drilling aims to extend known depth and continuity in this high-grade zone to assist with future underground mine planning. • Samples from this #drilling will be used for further metallurgical test work. • Drill core is oriented so that thorough structural geological data can be obtained for 3D modelling and better deeper drill targeting.
