How to come up with the perfect marketing strategy for early-stage ventures? 🤔 Without the right marketing strategy, even the best venture can struggle to succeed. In his recent talk, our Growth Marketing Manager, Mateo Mitre, shared valuable insights on how to get started when you're at square one. 💪 These are our top 3 takeaways: 💡 Identify the most effective channels to reach your audience. When planning your marketing efforts, explore every potential channel. Ask yourself the right questions: consider not only the reach and relevance to your audience but also the associated costs, the effort required, and the internal capacity to manage these channels. Don't forget to factor in whether you'll have external support, such as agencies or content creators, to help boost your efforts. 💡 Leverage the marketing funnel to create actionable results. When starting a new venture, tailor your go-to-market strategy to the 3-step funnel. Focus on awareness to attract attention, consideration to build trust, and decision to drive conversions. Remember, the goalposts may shift depending on your business. Adjust the funnel based on your business goals. 💡 Track, analyze, and optimize. Adjust your strategy as needed. No marketing plan is complete without a strong feedback loop. Continuously track your performance, analyze the results, and adjust accordingly. The ability to refine and optimize based on real-time data is what separates successful campaigns from the rest. Always stay nimble and ready to pivot when necessary. Marketing Customer traction Takes time, effort and money It’s none too easy either Here’s a thought👇🏼 Marketing matters and sales aren’t going to spin your wheels unless you invest in it. This is a hard economic reality and yet there are still those who seem to doubt this. For a business to thrive it needs customer traction and retention. It’s not enough to win them you need to keep them. Win them over and keep them forever: now that is a game plan I like. High conversions and low churn. Just watched the clip of Matt Damon talking about how the movie making business has changed as streaming has eclipsed DVDs. His opening comment about economics was that a $25m movie would spend the same again on marketing. So down here where we have small companies running hard to be big companies the spend on marketing is rarely spoken about. Put a marketing line in a pitch deck as use of funds when fund raising and wait to be lambasted. But here’s the thing, it’s not business if it’s sitting on the shelf, it needs to be flying out of the door to happy customers. Smart marketing, messaging and positioning are a vital part of the toolkit but yet in start up land no one seems to talk about it. Barely a flicker. In our portfolio/venture studio approach we’ve built our marketing methodology, created our team, curated our content and worked out our pipes. And then we’ve made it repeatable and scalable too. More later about the details but for now don’t overlook the strategic imperative of this part of the growth journey. #ThinkLikeAClient #GrumpyOptimism #TechStartUps #VentureStudios #Innovations Footnote: all my content is written daily by me with no additives or tricks. The top reason most startups’ marketing strategies fail? Lack of clarity. Don’t get caught up in a flashy strategy that looks impressive but doesn’t answer the right questions. Your strategy should be a clear blueprint for success. Here’s what you need to cover: ✅ Goals: What do we want to achieve, and by when? (e.g., “Get 1,000 new customers in 6 months”) ✅ Audience: Who are we trying to reach? (e.g., What do they like? What problems can we solve?) ✅ Unique Value: What makes us special? (e.g., Why should people choose us over others?) ✅ Channels: Where and how will we reach our customers? (e.g., Social media, email, ads) ✅ Budget: How much money do we have, and how will we spend it? ✅ Milestones: What will show we’re on track? (e.g., “Acquired X amount of customers by March”) ✅ Team: Can our current team handle this, or do we need more help? ✅ Execution Plan: How will we make it happen? (e.g., Step-by-step actions, responsibilities, and timelines) ✅ Metrics: How will we know if it’s working, and how will we fix it if it’s not? ✅ Risks: What could go wrong, and how will we deal with it? ✅ Alignment: How does this fit with our overall business goals? Keep it simple. Keep it clear. And most importantly, have a focused blueprint to bring it all to life. #StartupLife #MarketingStrategy

Founder of Because of Marketing | Creative Consultant helping brands connect with their target audience through story-driven marketing & campaigns
Every week I help startup founders with their brand and marketing challenges. Alongside building Because of Marketing and working with my own clients, it was an honour to be asked by Virgin StartUp to become an advisor for their new digital community platform. Since the launch of the platform, I’ve spoken to many founders from different industries who are launching or have launched a new startup. It’s exciting to listen and advise on how efficiently and effectively we can solve their brand or marketing problems. A few discussions we’ve covered on calls include: - Brainstorming campaign ideas. - Organic social media growth strategies. - Identifying how to save marketing budget. - Discussing founder-led content and the benefits for the brand. - Crafting a compelling brand story that aligns with their values, mission & vision. - Defining what makes their startup unique and how it differentiates from competitors. - Identifying the most effective channels & discussing why you don’t have to be everywhere to build brand awareness. I always look forward to these calls because my creative side flows naturally. It’s why I love marketing and supporting early-stage founders with their business and being a part of Virgin Startup’s community. I’m even more grateful to receive positive feedback and testimonials such as the one below! 🤎 If you’re interested in joining the Virgin StartUp Community, and to access my support, you can find more information linked below: https://lnkd.in/eH3TYyeh I know first hand how hard it is building a business. I’ve had many conversations with founders who have helped me in areas I have struggled. It feels amazing to be able to help others too.

After years of working as a marketing strategist, managing projects for some of the biggest brands out there, I decided to take the leap and co-found a digital marketing startup with another strategist. And let me tell you, it's been a journey. We’ve poured our years of experience into building something from scratch. We understand the ins and outs of digital marketing. We know what works, and we’ve seen the results. But here’s the thing that might surprise you: reaching our audience as a startup has been tougher than expected. Even with years of experience behind us, the challenges of getting our business in front of the right people are real. It’s humbling, and it's a reminder that every business—no matter how much expertise is behind it—faces unique hurdles. But that’s the beauty of this journey, right? We’re learning, adapting, and growing every day. 🙌 If you’re an entrepreneur, marketing professional, or part of a growing business, you probably know what I’m talking about. I’d love to hear your thoughts or tips on how you navigated these early-stage challenges. Let’s talk about the grind, the wins, and the lessons we’re all learning. 🌟 Pro Tip: Sometimes, the best solutions come from sharing experiences. Drop a comment or DM if you’ve been there, done that! #StartupLife #EntrepreneurJourney #DigitalMarketing #MarketingChallenges #GrowthMindset #LearningCurve

🚀 Attention Startup Founders! 🚀 Thinking of building a marketing team right out of the gate? 🛑 Hold that thought! Here's what you DON'T need to do immediately: 🔹 Invest in every social media platform right away. 🔹 Assemble a complete marketing crew on your debut. 🔹 Initiate a big-time ad campaign within your first few months. 🔹 Hire a full-time CMO when a fractional CMO can provide targeted expertise. Remember, it's not a race. 🐢💨 What to focus on instead: ✨ Perfect your product from the get-go. ✨ Pivot or fine-tune until you hit that Product-Market Fit - aim for this early! ✨ Create a brand strategy that can be your marketing foundation for the next year. Take it from me: Moving slow and steady not only wins the race 🏁 but also ensures a smoother, more strategic path to success. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Dive in thoughtfully, and watch your startup soar! 🚀✨

If your SaaS product isn't growing as expected, read this. (I share these insights in my calls) Discover my 3-1-2 strategy for effective marketing: 1. Define your target audience in 1 clear sentence 2. List 3 key benefits of your product (not features) 3. End with 2 calls to action 5 lines of text lay the foundation of any solid strategy. (You've just seen the 3-1-2 strategy in action!) This method is particularly vital for startups and companies pivoting their products (many of my clients are in this group). Start → 5 lines. Then → refine, implement, succeed! Apply this in your next marketing brainstorm. P.S. This post took 4 minutes to draft :)
