A small switch with a big impact! 💡 The LED retrofit at our Hamburg location - our largest site, responsible for about 50 % of our CO₂ emissions - is just one of many steps we're taking to make our own facilities more eco-friendly and reduce our carbon footprint. Project highlights (pun intended!): 🔄 We're replacing old fluorescent lights with energy-efficient LEDs in 23 production halls, seven hangars, 14 office buildings and two cafeterias. So far, we've upgraded 20,000 light points, covering 25 % of our site. 📉 In one engine shop, this change will save 600,000 kWh of electricity and reduce 200 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually. 😊 Beyond energy savings, LED lighting offers better light quality and less blue light exposure, which further enhances comfort and productivity for our team. This project is just one of many initiatives as we work towards our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2045 in Hamburg. In many other facilities around the world, there are additional projects focused on increasing sustainability in our operations. ✈️💚 #makechangefly

Lamp launches circular lighting service Spanish luminaire giant Lamp has unveiled a light renewal and upgrading service aimed at promoting what it terms ‘a genuine circular economy’. Dubbed CircLight, the offer will result of savings of 15 to 30 per cent compared to the expense of purchasing and installing new luminaires, says the Barcelona-based firm. ‘This service will extend the lifespan of luminaires,’ David Testar Carbó, Lamp’s director of operations, told the Circular Lighting Report.’The technological upgrade of lighting is quicker, quieter and cleaner than uninstalling and installing new lighting systems. ‘Additionally, installation times are cut by between 20 and 30 per cent, and what’s more, the lighting quality and users’ well-being are enhanced by integrating the latest technological advancements.’ Lamp points out that by the reconditioning rather than replacing luminaires, the environmental impact of the building is minimised by avoiding waste generation, and CO2 emissions are reduced both through decreased energy consumption and the reuse and updating of installed products. • Read more: Link in the comments • The Circular Lighting Report is powered by Recolight

In today's context, where the ecological footprint of every action is closely scrutinised, street lighting is a focal point in urban sustainability strategies. With cities consuming more than 65% of the world's energy, much of it for lighting, the urgency to adopt more sustainable solutions has never been more palpable. The advent of Smart Lighting solutions not only promises to reduce energy consumption but to reform the very fabric of our cities, making them safer, more attractive and resilient. By implementing lighting systems that harness solar energy, we move towards a circular and environmentally friendly model of energy consumption. But the real game changer lies in intelligent control systems. These allow lighting to be adapted to the real needs of an area, reducing waste and optimising consumption. The ability to adjust light intensity, to switch lights off when not needed or to intensify them in emergency situations, contributes significantly to reducing CO2 emissions and saving energy. At a time when extreme events such as hurricanes and heat waves put our infrastructure under strain, Smart Lighting solutions make a valuable contribution to the stability of electricity grids. By minimising consumption at critical times, they help prevent blackouts, improving urban resilience and reducing the costs and inconvenience associated with these events. Beyond technological aspects, it is crucial to recognise the role of lighting design in creating liveable and attractive urban spaces. Sustainable lighting is not only a question of reducing consumption but also of light quality, safety and aesthetics. Good design illuminates our cities while respecting the environment and the people who live in them. The road to a more sustainable future also passes through lighting. By adopting Smart Lighting solutions and investing in innovative technologies, we can significantly reduce the ecological footprint of our cities while improving the quality of urban life. #SaliotLighting #LightingDesign #Sustainability #Innovation #SmartLighting #SmartCity
