Nominated: Tridonic’s Lifetime Indicator Tridonic’s Lifetime Indictor which shows a driver’s health and ageing rate has been nominated for a Build Back Better Award in the lighting category.  The innovative feature, included in Generation 4 Premium drivers from this month, is based on a unique algorithm.  These values are accessible via NFC using the brand’s free 4 service App and allow users to understand the lifespan of the driver and its degradation rate accurately. A low ageing rate indicates optimal utilisation and provides a clear picture of the component's longevity. Should a driver's degradation be high, the company can identify the causes and take measures to prolong its life, leading to less frequent replacements and reducing maintenance.  The Lifetime Indicator gives benefits in maintenance efforts as activity can be based on actual needs rather than arbitrary schedules. This enables informed decisions on the reuse of drivers within the same building or in different luminaires, thereby minimising waste.  Products can be kept in use for longer and unnecessary replacements can be avoided contributing directly to reduced expenditure for replacement parts and the associated labour costs.  Tridonic says that not only does this approach offer economic benefits and helps to reduce embedded carbon and waste going into landfill, it also ensures that customers get the most out of their lighting products for as long as possible.
