Got ourselves a new chief: meet Hille van der Kaa! This year's new era for us cowboys. Alongside Margaret's stainless steel herd, our team of cowboys keeps growing - a natural moment to bring new leadership on board. So. We decided to bring in a mom. Who else? On board since day 1, this sharp-shooter-meets-zen-monk-meets-farmers'-gal knows the ropes at the ranch like no other. Hille's been running operations & communications smoothly ever since, and will surely continue to do so in her new role as CEO. Hille in 7 facts and 1 opinion: 1. Hille comes from a family of farmers. 2. She decided to become a vegetarian at the age of 8, after her teacher asked her why she would eat a cow and not her guinea pig. 3. She became vegan shortly after her son was born, when she visited a dairy farm. Here, the farmer's wife proudly showed a terrified calf, a few hours old, separated from its mother, while the mother stood howling for her child. From then on, dairy was history. 4. Hille has extensive experience in managing stubborn cowboys thanks to her former jobs as editor-in-chief and professor. 5. Her background in communications, innovative technology and business administration comes in handy, too. 6. She's a great fan of working together. Not just with vegan cowboys, but with industry partners, farmers and other precision fermentation companies as the highway to accelerate the transition. 7. ...especially with her great friend Will Van den Tweel who will take on the role of COO/CTO. Together they form a dynamic duo! 8. Stainless Steel Margaret's opinion of Hille: 'We've been natural BFF's from the start. Like me, she's got heart, she's got grit and she whips up a mighty polonaise in any carnival venue.
