Supporting a diverse health care workforce and delivering particular support to those providing care to marginalized people is the mission of this scholarship program. We’re shining a spotlight on the #bilingual healthcare app icanbewell.ca which was launched after six years in development. Spearheaded by #uOttawa researcher, Dr. Cléo Mavriplis, to help and empower Canadians to stay healthy. The development of the app was a collaborative effort between researchers at #uOttawaEngineering and the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine [uOttawa Department of Family Medicine | Département de médecine familiale de l’Université d’Ottawa ]🩺💡 This cross-disciplinary project, which started as part of the NSERC Create Biomedical Engineering Software Training (BEST) connected researchers and masters engineering students across departments of #uOttawaEngineering with Medical Professionals to develop the app – a digital hub with health information accessible to the public and health care providers📱 This project is a shining example of what engineering embodies – finding innovative solutions to help society. With hospital emergency departments overwhelmed and Canadians feeling frustrated by a lack of primary care access, a free webapp developed at the University of Ottawa is providing trusted information about #preventative health care to empower the public to take control of their own health. A collaborative effort from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine [uOttawa Department of Family Medicine | Département de médecine familiale de l’Université d’Ottawa] and the uOttawa | Faculty of Engineering | Faculté de génie has led to the development of icanbewell.ca, an innovative digital hub accessible to the public and health care providers.
