Re-sharing this post not only to put what looks like a great job opportunity out to my network... but also because it reminds me how many hats those in the research industry have to wear, especially when we are more senior. I was also struck by the fact that I was more drawn more to the qualities - inspirer and connector - than the pure skills (writer, sharp thinker etc.). A few thoughts on positioning. Having recently concluded the search for a Digital Account Director and before that a Lead Digital PM, I notice common gaps on profiles and CVs. I'm referring to clearly defined skills, types and nature of projects, sector, size, scope of responsibilities. Often in an outbound search scenario, candidates are missed because their profiles aren't defining sector and deliverables clearly enough. Keep in mind we are trying to find you amongst tens of thousands and as a digital AD with media specialities for example, you fall into the same job title bucket as those in branding or event sectors. Likewise project managers who deliver digital transformation projects are coupled with construction PMs. Refining the search in order to find our digital specialists is the next step and if you haven't thought carefully about this, your profile drops out the search. The same happens reviewing job applicants. Core skills are covered - but not the 'what' - and this is the bit our clients are interested in. Remember it's not unusual these days that filters are used before this stage too. What did you do, how and who for? Where does your expertise shine? What do you know about? Try and build context into your CV and employment profiles. State the obvious even if it's just to keep the search engines happy. 🏃♀️ I hope these tips help!
