Hi DataScientists, In modern factoranalysis there are a few critical moments: 1. How well is the raw datamatrix reconstructed? 2. How big is the effect of capitalisation on chance? 3. How well is the correlation matrix reconstructed? These three fit - measures can be put together by calculating geometric mean. And that is exactly what I have done : I developed a GEOMFIT. With that measure I was able to compare FA with PCA. When analysing the well known Boston housing set with 4 factors or components the geomfit values were : PCA = 0.869 FA(all types) = 0.910 PCA will always the highest percentage of variance, but it is lower on of-diagonal reconstruction of the raw data and the correlation matrix
