Lunda Construction Company’s Post

This #flashbackfriday has us visiting the Liberty Memorial Bridge in Bismarck, North Dakota. Built in 1922, the original bridge was one of the final links in the transcontinental highway (later called the National Parks Highway). That bridge was the first permanent crossing of the Missouri River in North Dakota. It was christened the Liberty Memorial Bridge in honor of World War I soldiers from North Dakota. In 2006, Lunda Construction was awarded the contract to replace the original bridge. The new bridge, completed in 2009, is 2,369 feet long, with a main span of 1,658 feet across the water. The replacement bridge continues to honor veterans, recognizing all branches of the military, and those who serve our country, with a design incorporating five overlooks, and two plazas as a tribute to military veterans. #fbf #infrastructure #bridges #bridgeconstruction #lundaconstruction #lunda
