Construction news ran a story that suggests that a third of construction managers, wouldn't hire someone with an unspent conviction 🤦♀️ This has reallllllly surprised me actually - come on guys, we are currently experiencing a skills shortage and having an unspent conviction, doesn't mean you're not able to work. My big question to the third of people that wouldn't hire someone with a conviction; do you do an enhanced DBS on every single person in your employment? If not - how do you know that you don't already employ someone with an unspent or spent conviction? If you're happy to employ someone with a spent conviction, but not an unspent conviction - why is that? At one point, all convictions are unspent... Great to see the work of Making Ground being highlighted in the article (I will post it in the comments).
