ONH envisions a community in which all youth, without regard of their living situation, have an equal opportunity to pursue their goals and dreams, and an equal likelihood of achieving them.
Our Service: Increase the success rate of those classified as “dropouts” throughout San Bernardino County by providing our Evidence Based Practice (EBP) of case management, educational opportunities, leadership development, and our career pathway programs. With these supportive services, we are confident that we can assist San Bernardino County in achieving more success of the disconnected youth. Foster Youth, Teen Parents, Homeless, Mental Health, and those experiencing the Judicial System. What we do: Out-of-school youth often seek services from community based organizations or public agencies. Understanding the challenges of this population, Operation New Hope (ONH), in 2010, formed a successful collaboration to create a Youth Opportunity Center to provide meaningful life skill resources for disadvantaged youth. As a result, ONH was able to stimulate, sustain and engage “dropout” youth into comprehensive services in San Bernardino County. Operation New Hope Youth Opportunity Centers are trauma informed learning centers that provide innovative educational and vocational services for transitional age youth who have not succeeded in a traditional environment. The successful results produce a healthier individual and community. Enroll Now! Share with a young adult in need of a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th chance to build a successful road map. https://lnkd.in/gkQs8j8T

As I prepare to take the stage at the Atlantic Festival, one question keeps resonating in my mind: "How are the children?" This simple yet profound inquiry guides my approach to philanthropy, policy, and progress. At the festival, I'm eager to explore this question with fellow thought leaders and change-makers. Some key questions I hope to address: How can we ensure our policies and systems truly prioritize children's wellbeing? What innovative approaches are making the biggest impact on child development and success? How do we bridge the gap between adult-focused issues and their effects on our young people? In what ways can we amplify youth voices and empower them to shape their own futures? How do we measure progress beyond traditional metrics to capture the full picture of children's thriving? The theme of children's wellbeing isn't just a professional interest – it's deeply personal. As a parent, I've witnessed firsthand the mix of excitement and apprehension that children face in our current world. It's a reminder that our work must always keep children's needs front and center. I'm looking forward to rich discussions and new insights over the next two days. My hope is that by continually asking "How are the children?,” we can foster a society where the answer is always "They are well, and their futures are bright." What questions would you add to this list? How do you think we can better center children in our decision-making processes? I'd love to hear your thoughts! #TAF24 #ChildrenFirst #FutureFocus #wkkf

We often hear that children are our future, so why can’t we seem to make significant, systemic investments in our nation’s kids? Together with our friends at Leading for Kids, we recently released a new set of resources dedicated to reframing how we think and talk about kids by broadening Americans’ understanding of care. Caring for children is often seen as the responsibility of certain designated individuals, but when we understand care in such an individualized way, it can be hard to recognize the role that every single person and every single system plays in ensuring the wellbeing of young people. By helping people think about care as collective, inclusive, and expansive, we can move the narrative in a more positive direction. Take a look at the resources: https://bit.ly/3wUcymg

Far, Far Beyond The Adoption Order: Lessons from Lives Impacted by Trauma. Get ready for an event that's set to ignite change and foster understanding like never before! Our conference is a platform to bring together professionals from various fields, alongside our dedicated Potato Group community. Together, we aim to achieve several crucial objectives: Shared Wisdom: We'll be sharing invaluable insights from the lives of the children we parent, providing a window into their challenges and needs. Shaping Policies: By engaging in meaningful discussions, we hope to influence the development of trauma-reducing policies within key statutory services. Fostering Understanding: Through relational connections, we seek to alter perspectives and approaches, starting a ripple effect of positive change. Training Future Leaders: The research and video content generated from this event should serve as a foundation for training emerging professionals, ensuring they're equipped to support families like ours. Strengthening Support Systems: We're advocating for earlier and more cohesive support from organisations, systems, and individuals who truly understand the complexities of our families' lives. The outcomes of this conference promise to be nothing short of transformative. We're on a mission to create a future where every child and our families receive the understanding and support they need to thrive. Join us, 17th & 18th May, Central Birmingham.

The HOPE framework, centered around positive childhood experiences (PCEs), helps professionals and organizations achieve their mission of improving the health and well-being of children, families, and communities. It is an impactful framework that can be used on its own and alongside other models such as strength-based and trauma-informed care approaches. While many models and frameworks also celebrate strengths and promote holistic views of people, the HOPE framework offers a complete approach to practicing PCEs. https://buff.ly/3wYOu0T

The Charting the LifeCourse framework is designed to help you articulate what you need AND what you want. At its core, the organization believes all people have the right to live, love, work, play and pursue their own life aspirations. The framework is about helping individuals achieve life outcomes and accomplish goals with a clear focus on people and finding the support they need. GCDD supports the project in Arkansas through a grant and stands by its mission. This framework isn’t just for professionals, and it isn’t exclusive to people with disabilities and their families. It’s for ALL of us. To learn more about Charting the LifeCourse or to get started, visit the link below. https://ow.ly/R4G950QEizG
