Moving to the U.S. can be exciting and overwhelming, but there are some important things to keep in mind. Learning the US format of mailing addresses and dates is a good habit to adopt. Additionally, it's crucial to keep track of all your addresses, as USCIS may ask for your address history when applying for work authorization or a change of status. When applying for US citizenship, you must provide each address where you have lived for the past five years, with no gaps in between. Stay organized and stay on top of your address history! #USimmigration #addresshistory #USCIS

Client becomes U.S. citizen - - for the second time! How does this happen? Client was born in the United States and parents applied and obtained U.S. passport for child. Client renews passport as adult several times. But when client applied to renew again in 2023, U.S. Department of State denied the application. Client was stunned and left stateless as no longer held any other citizenship. Why? He had been born to U.S. diplomats and therefore was not a U.S. citizen at birth under the 14th Amendment citizenship clause. Solution? Filed Form I-485 to register client as a lawful permanent resident (LPR) as a child born in the United States to diplomats retroactive (nunc pro tunc) back to date of birth. USCIS approved LPR status and green card issued retroactive to date of birth! Immediately filed N-400 for naturalization as was a LPR for more than 5 years and met all other eligibility requirements. USCIS approved N-400 last week at interview and client was sworn in and granted U.S. citizenship - - for a second time. This situation is not as uncommon as one thinks. T&R is here to help! #UScitizenship #14thamendment #Immigration #naturalization
