I had the opportunity to interview Jerome, JC Decaux's Global Transport and Business Development Director at last October's ACI Europe Commercial and Retail Conference. It's actually our first one-to-one interview and well worth it, given the ground we covered. Who hasn't been touched by airport advertising in some way in our travels? Well, you will find no corporate puff in this interview. Instead, Jerome answers pointed questions about JC Decaux's recent research on campaign effectiveness, on the growing numbers of 'bleisure' travellers and on airport media vs social media - competitive or complementary? He also talks at length about digital transformation within the business (now at 40%), and provides a number of examples of 'emotive' brand experiences, including Omega at CDG Paris and Mercedes at Brussels Airport. Lagardère Travel Retail has expanded its presence in the German travel retail market by securing a major contract with Düsseldorf Airport. The retailer will open seven of its popular RELAY stores, alongside a hybrid retail-F&B concept, two hyper-local souvenir outlets and a kids' shop at the airport. The new deal expands Lagardère's presence in Düsseldorf to 21 stores. Flight Centre Travel Group's corporate division saw a 3% rise in transaction volume in Q1 of FY2024, despite global market stagnation. Some highlights: 💚 FCM success: New accounts with $350M in annual spending won between July and October. 💼 Corporate powerhouse: Now the largest division, contributing 31% of the group’s total transaction value (TTV) in FY2024, up from 20% in 2019. 🌍 Post-COVID recovery: Achieved 135% of pre-pandemic size—outpacing the industry’s 80% recovery. ✈ Notably, airfare deflation (-9% YoY) is stimulating demand, with international sales in Australia up 15% in Q1. 📌 Takeaway: Strategic wins and resilience are driving sustained growth for Flight Centre’s corporate brands. #CorporateTravel #BusinessTravel #FCTG #FCMTravel #TravelNews #TravelIndustry #FlightCentre BTN Group
