As ethnic and resistance armed groups amass victories against Myanmar's military junta, they are taking control of the periphery of the country. Some are close to achieving the creation of long-desired autonomous statelets, which raises doubts about the future territorial organisation of the country. The situation has pushed neighbouring countries to reassess their position regarding their relations with non-state actors, who de facto rule much of the borders. In light of the current situation, foreign donors should adjust their processes and aid to the specific needs of civil society groups on the ground. 📌New briefing: https://lnkd.in/eDMAUKmX

1. #Russian front line is less than 8km (4.9 miles) from #Pokrovsk, which is a key transportation hub. If it falls, then Russian forces will cut off one of the main supply routes in the region. 2. This will likely force Ukraine to retreat from #ChasivYar and the front line will move closer to #Kramatorsk. This, for Ukraine, would mean the loss of almost the entire #Donetsk region, which Russia has been fighting for since the beginning of their invasion. 3. Ukrainian #Kursk offensive did raise morale of troops, unlocked frozen war, and posed a lucrative bargaining option in Quid Pro Quo operation, but it failed to force Russians to divert its forces from Donbass region, besides extending Ukrainian frontline running into risk of cutting off at places. 4. Next few weeks will determine whether Kursk was worth a military risk? Politically its understandable that Zelensky wanted to prove a point to his donors that he deserves military aid to do more. #majorgeneraldrsbasthana https://lnkd.in/gNrmZXtC

In the foreign segment of social network X (formerly Twitter), the first proposals for the introduction of foreign troops into the territory of Ukraine have started to appear. While these images are unofficial, their meaning is already understood. The essence of the proposals for deploying foreign troops in Ukraine (at least for now) is to prevent NATO forces from engaging in direct conflict with the Russian Armed Forces. Instead, the idea is to position them along the northern border of Ukraine with Belarus and, to a lesser extent, near Odessa, likely for the protection of ports and to prevent Ukraine from losing access to the sea. According to this plan, the deployment of NATO troops along the Belarusian border is intended to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberate troops stationed along a 1,300 km front line, comprising nearly 150,000 personnel, as claimed by Kyiv. Currently, this is deemed impossible due to the perceived threat of offensive actions by the Russian Armed Forces from the north.

The War in Ukraine update : The Bolsheviks dropped 10000 FAB glide bombs on the ukrainian defenders - on frontline region of Ukraine since the beginning of 2024. In order to counter this : UAF should be allowed to hit military targets on RU territory with Western weapons. More SPGSs like M109, PZH 2ooo, Krab, K9 Thunder, Caesar, Archer Artillery System - and the corresponding ammunition (regular and DPCIM) should be delivered ASAP. More ATACMs and HIMARS launchers and regular/DPCIM missiles should be supplied. More Patriot Batteries and cooresponding missiles should be delivereed. First squadrons of ukrainian F-16 should come into play. Slava Ukraina !
Russians dropped 10,000 - TEN THOUSAND - guided bombs on Ukraine since the beginning of 2024 alone. The only way to stop this is to shoot down the aircraft carrying the bombs. But they don't cross the UA-RU border and launch everything from the Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk regions. Ukraine is not allowed to hit military targets on RU territory with Western weapons. Let this sink in. And #LetUkraineStrikeBack. Source: https://lnkd.in/dyhsZhSc

Ukraine announced a withdrawal from Avdiivka on February 17 to a series of positions to the town’s west. Yet three tiny villages have since fallen to Russian forces, with Kyiv insisting they never intended to defend them. But the defensive line it declared it would fall back to - three villages further to the west - has since come under heavy Russian assault, with pro-Russian sources claiming Moscow has partially occupied all three settlements. Ukraine denies the claims. The Russian advances come in the face of a deep crisis in munitions for the Ukrainian military, creating a near-existential debate for frontline troops who must ration ammunition and are questioning how long they can withstand Russian pressure. In another sign of the mounting sense of unease, the new commander of the Ukrainian military, Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, twice in the past week scolded his subordinate officers for poor performance on this key front line. Note: This also goes to Ukraine’s increasingly desperate need for more artillery ammunition — and that goes to Congress passing the aid package

During two years of war, Russia nationalized companies worth a trillion rubles Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 180 private enterprises have come under Russian control, according to a joint study by Novaya Gazeta Europe and Transparency International. From February 2022 to the end of 2023, the courts received 40 demands for nationalization, which affected almost two hundred companies. Their total assets amount to about 1.04 trillion rubles or about 0.6% of Russia's GDP. Mostly, enterprises producing military products were subject to nationalization.

Two years into Russia's full-scale invasion, what is the message of Ukrainians to the West? How do they cope with the war and the threat of waning Western support? Over the coming days, Friends of Europe will bring you personal stories of Ukrainian citizens enduring the war, emphasising the importance of robust military and financial aid for Ukraine's and Europe's success. Speaking from Kyiv, Tetyana argues that the West should support Ukraine because ❝if [support] stops, the evil, here in Ukraine, [will] come to your home. We are a shield to Europe and the whole world.❞ Learn more about our Ukraine Initiative: https://bit.ly/48gBdhe #DoNotNormaliseTheWar #StandWithUkraine #UkraineInitiative

We are participating in a debunking campaign by Fundacja INFO OPS Polska | INFO OPS Poland Foundation orchestrated through the EU Election ISAC. After the first donation of military equipment to Ukraine, “spontaneous” movements began to spring up like mushrooms, proclaiming the need to conclude peace in Ukraine as soon as possible and “limit the suffering of the civilian population” by limiting or halting the supply of arms to Ukraine. They did not advocate limiting the flow of arms and ammunition to the aggressor state, but rather only to the Ukrainian people defending themselves from an unjustified invasion. Under the guise of pacifism, these movements seek to generate opposition to supporting Ukraine’s defence effort. They propagate in favour of the aggressor state – the Russian Federation. https://lnkd.in/d3En2cfe
