Guess what happened today that totally blew my mind? So, I was just going about my business at work when I turned around to help a customer, and guess who it was? Jessica from my White House | Black Market days! Talk about a blast from the past! It was such a pleasant surprise to see her, and as we caught up, it got me thinking about our time at WHBM. You know, it struck me that a lot of people know how much I love visuals, and Jessica played a huge role in igniting that passion in me. She was the one who really introduced me to the whole visual space thing. Thanks to her influence, I was able to make a smooth transition from working on visuals at WHBM to doing the same at Victoria’s Secret, all while excelling in sales. And let's not forget my stint as the Merchandise Team Leader at Aerie before landing the gig as Store Manager. Jessica was like the spark that set off this whole exciting journey of exploring how far I could take my merchandising skills and sales prowess. It's funny how these little chance encounters can make you reflect on how far you've come, right? It's moments like these that make me appreciate the journey and the people who have been a part of it. Who would've thought a regular day at work could turn into a trip down memory lane and a reminder of the impact someone can have on your life and career? 💚 #AerieReal #Growth

Turning Data into Growth! I am a Digital Marketing Strategy Leader helping companies leverage data to improve their ROI.
A year ago today, I thought I had officially hit the peak of my career. It was announced that we (Digitas North America) had won our pitch to LVMH, which simultaneously felt like a dream come true after all the hard work, late nights, and invigorating creative moments (and it is genuinely my dream company to work for) while also feeling very much like the bittersweet conclusion, as I knew I would not be continuing to officially onboard this incredible new client. However, two days later I realized that I had received the greatest promotion of my career. Under my new title, mom, I found that my career wasn’t over. My skills of organization, time management, creative problem solving under pressure, and training/teaching were just given a new challenge and opportunity for me to level up. Returning to work after my maternity leave, I have found myself bursting at the seams with growth and feeling so ready to continue to level up. I got lucky (or maybe I made my own luck) in that I was able to work for that dream client, building their audiences, for a small stint while transitioning back, before rolling on full time to another pretty incredible team serving another extraordinary client, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company . I used to think that life and work were in competition. That was why you need to "balance" in the work/life arena. But in reality, work is part of life and growth in life is a part of growth in the workplace. These are not competing parts of ourselves, but rather an integrated apparatus from which we form our whole selves. Do not fear growth in any area of your life. Let it lead you forward in all aspects of yourself. #inspiration #careergrowth #growthmindset

I started my career in Sales with Reebok attempting to sell shoes to complete strangers. As a young adult my personality oscillated between being an introvert and an extrovert - yes, an ambivert - comfortable only with my known set of friends and family. Cut to - no campus placements, forcing me to cold call, when one day, the day I was feeling brave and extroverted, I walked into the Reebok outlet on Linking Road, Bandra to ask for a job and to my luck I landed one as a Management Trainee. Note here the Regional Sales Manager was in store that day and was impressed, good timing! Come Day 1 I am on the sales floor, in uniform, dreading the arrival of a customer - how will I face this alien? So yes, the first few I ducked and then meekly observed those who were doing a much finer job - they were bold, modest, much less educated but got the job done! Finally after many such observations, I mustered up the courage to finally get this over and done with! I don't know how I came across as a salesperson but I got the sale! But the critic in me was not satiated - chided me saying it was an easy one, the customer was already primed I only had to nudge and so on. Nevertheless, I spent the better part of the year gently pushing my head out of the shell much like a turtle and yes, just like the turtle slow and steady wins the race. A few more billings and a little more personal excavation. No I didn't go on to become The Salesperson but this was a personal win for me, prepping me for the real MBA of life - Masters in Being a bit more Adventurous. #salescareer #startingcareer #mba #beingadventurous #ambivert #openingup #reebokindia #selling

𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄... 𝗝𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘇𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 We'll be regularly shining a light on sports merchandise industry professionals around the globe and finding out a little about their careers and insight into their roles. Next up, Jen Pertzborn. 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 Jen Pertzborn 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲 Merchandise Manager 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Green Bay Packers 🇺🇸🏈 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀? 2️⃣2️⃣ years 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲? Being able to use my creativity to select unique items that influence the purchasing decisions of our customers. Developing exclusive items only sold in our stores and online and seeing those items be successful is rewarding. I also enjoy traveling and developing strong friendships with vendors and co-workers. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? Managing inventory in a retail environment that heavily relies on the performance of the team. It’s a daily balancing act to make sure you have the right goods in inventory at the right time. Due to the high level of fiscal responsibility in this role, the extended work hours can also be challenging at times. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 / 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁? My proudest and favorite moment so far in my sports career has been working with the team when they won Super Bowl XLV. Going through that experience as a member of the buying team is something I will never take for granted. It was an invaluable learning opportunity and a once in a lifetime experience. If you are interested in a career in sports, entry level positions can get you familiar with the team and the way the sports industry works. It is also important to network. Inform those people of your interest and stay in close contact with them. Thanks, Jen! I've been working at Nike for sixteen years. This summer, I am reflecting back on what I have learned and sharing in the hope that it helps you on your path. Learning One: You will miss the people deeply when they are no longer around. When you begin your career it is easy to see those around you as fixed, static, ones who will always be there. Yet that’s not how it will be. There will come a time when you will change jobs, leave, move, or retire. And so will they. What seems normal now, saying hi as you walk in the building, past a desk, or on the Zoom will be a distant memory. You will both evolve, and their influence on you will help you as you experience something similar ahead… or when you see someone who has. But that isn’t fully the point. As Andy Barnard from the Office put it, “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.” I miss so many of my former teammates, and I am so grateful for the way they have collectively shaped who I am today. If I could go back, what would I do? I’d keep a journal. In that journal I would reflect on the people who made a difference in my journey, while it was happening. I’d use that as a reason to keep in touch better, even when they weren’t on my team, in my city, or at my company. What about you? How do you keep in touch with incredible people you meet on tbe way? #careers #thoughtleadership #learning

🌟 Expanding Horizons: Leveraging Skills for Career Growth 🌟 As professionals, we often get comfortable in our current roles which limits us in venturing out of our comfort zone, but what if there's a world of opportunity beyond our current position? I've come to realize that our skills in retail are not confined to the shop floor—they're versatile, adaptable, transferrable, and ripe for exploration in different domains and even within the same company. At #Bealls, I've been fortunate to witness firsthand the power of skill exploration within the organization. Whether it's transitioning from store operations to digital marketing or from merchandising to supply chain management, there's a world of opportunity waiting to be seized. By embracing this mindset, we not only enrich our own professional journey but also contribute to the growth and innovation of our company. So let's dare to step outside our comfort zones, explore new avenues, and unlock the full spectrum of our capabilities. Together, we can chart a course towards limitless possibilities. #CareerGrowth #SkillsDevelopment #ProfessionalJourney #innovation #management

I can't think of many more important decisions I made in my life than where I began my career journey. I kicked off as a Saturday lad at JJB Sports, Parkgate, Rotherham. Stacking shelves, stock room runs to grab trainers and the most thrilling part, learning how to use the Football shirt number/name printing machine! - Once in '94 I put "9 - Shearer" on the back of a Man Utd home shirt, when he looked nailed on to go there...bet that jersey didn't get much airtime ;-) Anyway, this job set me up with a love for all things retail. I learned how to interact with customers, built communication skills and understood the importance of listening. Ami Rowe and her team create these opportunities across a Global estate for us here at Frasers Group. It genuinely excites and amazes me at how many of these stories we are able to kick-off every single day.
