Just finishing to read the book "The Luxury Strategy: Break the Rules of Marketing to Build Luxury Brands" by Kapferer and Bastien. I would advise anyone to read it... (being interested by this market or not, there is so much in this book that can be transferred to any business) Just one thing that I cant agree with: Modern art is not luxury, because luxury does not need explanations. If it was needed, luxury would not be able to satisfy its main purpose, societal stratification.
