I listened to a podcast by Adam Grant, where he shares how people found success by building genuine connections. He challenges traditional networking, emphasizing authentic relationships. Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, supports this view by encouraging connections based on shared missions. Together, they highlight the power of collaboration and meaningful relationships. The way people typically think of networking is flawed. In Adam Grant's podcast, one idea that really resonated with me is that "mastering your craft helps you build connections." When you're passionate about something, the way you explain it hits differently—you bring more energy and authenticity. You never know; the person you're speaking with might teach you something new or share insights on a subject they’re passionate about. Networking is really about building genuine friendships through meaningful connections. We are more than our job titles, and the best work happens when people are purposeful and driven by something bigger than just their jobs. As an aspiring clinician majoring in Public Health Science with a background in biology, I want to connect with my community through passion and purpose, fostering meaningful relationships that prioritize health equity. My goal is to improve the quality of life for others by truly keeping their best interests at heart.
