Many thanks to SPE Central Europe e. V. and its president Bernard Rzepka and his passioned team for organizing this amazing event at the Kameha Grand Bonn honoring outstanding innovations with the SPE Automotive Awards. We are very proud that all five submitted material solutions of our LyondellBasell Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) team with partners along the automotive value chain were honored with the FIRST PLACE in the category BODY INTERIOR for the instrument panel carrier of the Volkswagen Group ID.7 reducing significantly weight, cycle time and energy consumption. We are happy that we could support Lars Fölster and his Volkswagen Group team with the partners FORVIA, Müller Modell- und Formenbau GmbH & Co. KG, KraussMaffei and Stieler Kunststoff Service GmbH, with our #technicalservice competence beside providing our material solution enabling this success. SECOND PLACE in the category BODY INTERIOR for the A-pillar made with our mold-in-color textile effect PP Compound replacing back injected fabrics for a Renault Group model. Beside system and cost optimization enabling an easier recyclability being a mono-material solution. Many thanks to our partners Renault Group and Eurostyle Systems. THIRD PLACE in the category BODY EXTERIOR for claddings of the Renault Group Dacia made with our PP Compound including 20% of recycled PP with mold-in-color special effect with particles to highlight the use of the recycle content. Many thanks to our partners Renault Group, Metaplast and ImoplasticGroup. SECOND PLACE in the category POWER TRAIN for the end cap of cooling systems for fuel cell as well as for diesel powered trucks made with our glass fibre reinforced advanced copolymer. This unique material is significantly outperforming the achievable lifetime under pressure or load enabling e.g. the replacement of Polyamide. Furthermore, our material solution enables a very low conductivity of the contained cooling liquid over time required for cooling systems of fuel cell powered trucks. NOMINATION AWARD in the category NEW MOBILITY for the AUDI AG MLT EV battery cooling tube made with our Polyamide, crafted PP and advanced copolymer PP Compound in multi-layer tube extrusion combined with thermoforming and laser welding. I was impressed by the inspiring keynote speeches from Mike Herbig from AUDI AG talking about “Circular design for the automotive industry” and from Nick Sohnemann from FUTURE CANDY GmbH talking about “Artificial Intelligence”. And last but not least, it was great to see outstanding Master's theses by three students being honored in the new YOUNG PROFESSIONAL AWARD category.
