📣 NEW PUBLICATION ALERT 📣 The latest IRSPM conference theme was devoted to #hybridity in the public sector, which is an increasing widespread phenomenon. In this new article on Public Management Review, co-authored with Giulia Cappellaro and Raffaella Saporito, we make three important contributions to advance the field: 1. We take stock of existing knowledge on public-private hybrid organizations (HOs) and pave the way for future research. 2. We develop and offer an organizational framework to guide future studies of HOs based on common core dimensions that consider both the environment in which HOs operate and their internal functioning. 3. We disentangle the construct of HOs from that of #PPPs. HOs share with PPPs a focus on having distinctive arrangements between public and private actors and spheres of activity; however, while such arrangements are typically contractual and project based in PPPs, HOs are primarily unitary organizations that govern the relationship between public and private spheres through formal governance mechanisms. ☘️ So glad to see an article stemming from my PhD thesis published in a top-tier public management journal, looking forward to receiving your feedback! 🆓 The first 50 copies can be downloaded for free at the link below: https://lnkd.in/dqShpyQh

The Patoss Virtual Annual Conference 2024 'How the Past Informs the Future: SASC Authorised' is taking place on Saturday 20th April. Each year some of the top SpLD specialists in their given profession come together for our Annual Conference. This year we are delighted to welcome Professor Anna Barnett & Dr Nichola Stuart who will present their seminar, ‘The Intelligence and Development Scales – 2nd Edition (IDS-2): SASC Authorised’. The IDS-2 is a broad developmental assessment containing 30 subtests across six Domains: Intelligence, Executive Functions, Psychomotor skills, Social-emotional skills, Scholastic skills, and Motivation and Attitude. The IDS-2 is used worldwide and was recently adapted and translated into English, with the collection of UK norms for 5–20-year-olds. Standardised Executive Function tests are an important component of neurodevelopmental assessment. The Executive Functions Domain of the IDS-2 has four subtests: Listing words, Divided attention, Animal colours and Drawing routes. These are designed to measure different aspects of Executive Function working together, but have a primary focus on mental flexibility, working memory, inhibition and planning respectively. In this presentation, we will describe the four Executive Function sub-tests and how they are scored. We will also present a case study to illustrate the interpretation of test results and their use in planning a programme of support. Awesome! And, because this work is so important, we should consider forming #unusualcollaborations to #accelerate and #generate #innovative #solutions (think 1+1=3) #strategic #wisdom #measurementmatters
Charles William Eliot Professor of Education at Harvard University President (2024-2025), National Council on Measurement in Education
Serving on the Joint Committee is one of the most important opportunities in our field, to engage members of 3 organizations (the American Educational Research Association, the American Psychological Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME)) and forge new consensus about the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. In addition to representing AERA and APA, well over half of Joint Committee members have served NCME in major roles, as presidents, board members, program chairs, and recognized experts (Ye Tong, Stephen Sireci, Ellen Forte, Laura Hamilton, Qiwei He, Cara Cahalan Laitusis, Rochelle Michel, Mike Russell, Chad Buckendahl...). The current Standards (https://lnkd.in/e2ZHKQXt) are 10 years old and are missing important new perspectives on fairness, technology (including Artificial Intelligence), and the diversifying uses of test scores for research, policy, and practice. In my presidential year, I look forward to engaging NCME members in the revision process with the Joint Committee, through webinars, in our annual meeting #NCME25, and through our scholarship and publications. https://lnkd.in/eFj2AyR7
