50 years of Ronald McDonald House Charities mission impact has continuously pointed us back to one thing: the importance of family-centered care. From day one, RMHC believed in healthcare that is designed to respect the important role families have in restoring and maintaining the health of their children.    This belief has been fundamental to the growth of RMHC. Over the past five decades, we have:   🏠Opened 1,000+ programs that meet the local needs of their communities and the families they serve 👪Enabled family-centered care for millions of families through 255+ Chapters across 62 countries and regions 💙Strengthened and supported 2.3 million families in 2023 alone 🏥Hosted over 30 family-centered care conferences held by RMHC Chapters across the world, including Ukraine, Netherlands, Curacao, and Romania.   Our global program growth reflects our unwavering commitment to the child’s healthcare journey – before, during and after care. Whether it’s providing a warm meal after a long day at the hospital or educating families on early diagnosis programs, RMHC offers more than just a place to stay.     As we celebrate 50 years of mission delivery, I’m eager to see what the future holds for us. In partnership with Alder Hey Children's Charity, Medicash is funding a vital new nursing post focusing on infant feeding support for the next four years. This marks a transformative step in the Baby Friendly Initiative - a global programme led by UNICEF and the World Health Organisation, designed to support families in feeding their infants and building strong, loving bonds. A New Era for Hospice Care! We were thrilled to see the news before Christmas that the government is making a much-needed investment into hospices across the country! It was announced that they will be providing a landmark £100 million for adult and children’s hospices, and £26 million to support children and young people’s hospices. This vital new funding will help hospices to: ✅ Enhance patient comfort and dignity ✅ Modernise equipment and spaces ✅ Provide better support for families Vivid Care have been so lucky to support countless hospices over the years, both through the provision of specialist seating and beds, and also by running campaigns to raise funds for the hospice charities. Dorset Mind has announced a new five-year contract to deliver Access Wellbeing in North Dorset. The charity will help tackle what is described as the postcode inequity for support, which is particularly challenging in the isolated rural north of the county. 📢 Exciting News: Major Grant Awarded to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity for Volunteering Programme! We’re delighted to share that our hospital charity has secured a prestigious six-figure grant through the national Volunteering for Health programme! Funded by NHS England, NHS Charities Together 💙, and CW+ charity, this initiative is designed to enhance the role of volunteers in the NHS, building on the recommendations of the NHS Volunteering Taskforce. 🙌🧡🏥 As one of just 15 partnerships selected across the UK, with grants ranging from £285,000 to £550,000, we’ll be collaborating with five local VCSE organisations. This funding will support innovative volunteer programmes and the creation of community health champions to help reduce local health inequalities. Across the UK, hospices are facing critical funding challenges that are impacting their ability to provide care. Our hospice is no different. Today, our CEO, Iain Cameron, joined Radio 4 presenter Jonny Dymond on the World at One show to discuss these issues and their impact on our Hospice. Shockingly, only 16% of our funding comes from the government. End-of-life care is an essential service, not a luxury, yet it’s not funded like other care services. The reality is stark: without our local community's support, St. Michael’s Hospice may not be here for everyone who needs us.
