Lysiac hosted a very inspiring braindate session at the HTAi. Braindates are knowledge-sharing conversations. They’re the best way to brainstorm, solve challenges, share expertise or experiences, while connecting with new people. We discussed the subject of determining Socially Acceptable Costs (SAC) for expensive therapies, including which stakeholders to involve in determining SAC and how to involve these stakeholders.   The braindate had attendees from countries all over the world. One of the conclusions was that a broadly accepted SAC-definition and determination, are seen as a basis for acceptance of (reimbursement) decisions. This means that, especially in democratic countries, a SAC-definition must be developed with a broad group, representing the society and involved stakeholders. With this conclusion and building on our previous work on SAC, we are inspired to continue working on this topic!
