Read her full response below: ➡️ ”What if we took a “risk-based” approach to recruitment, advancement, promotion, and retention, based on what I know to be a person’s Super Powers, and gave them stretch opportunities that were less discipline-based and more focused on who is in the best position to make a difference. I put ”risk-based” in quotes because many of the decisions we make daily have inherent risks that go unappreciated…and if they were appreciated, we would likely make different decisions! ➡️ What if we looked at marginalized populations with real focus and intention and chose to more aggressively hire from those communities? ➡️ But first, what if we worked on our own stuff, that is our barriers…the structural, legal, policy, cultural, and human factors that are in the way of us truly exploiting talent that is all around us…so that we create a workplace that welcomes all who want to be part of doing great and seemingly impossible things? ➡️ What if we crafted our budgets in a way that demonstrated that we were a “people first” culture, because we believe in our fiber that those investments pay big dividends in loyalty, growth, profitability, image, reputation, retention and recruitment?” ————————— 💡 We want to hear from you! Companies are hard. So hard. They keep you up at night. All you want to do is a good job and take care of the people who make it happen. We have an amazing team, I know every leader says that about their team, but when you look at the scoreboard when it comes to buzz words like: #Revenue, #EBITA, #CAGR, #GrossMargin, #RetentionRate, #WinRate, #TimeToFill this team regularly exceeds every expectation or industry average. But honestly those metrics don't make it to the top of my list of priorities. Our business isn't about those metrics. It's about supporting the mission. It's about making every mission we touch better. It's about finding the best people and enabling them to solve the hardest problems. Every year we take this survey to get the pulse of the staff. I wait for the results like I wait for the results of our biggest contract bids. Winning isn't really what matters, but seeing that we are supporting those people who are on site everyday making the mission happen matters to me more than anything. If I'm honest winning helps me sleep at night. It makes me feel like we are living up to everything our people bring to the fight. It makes me grateful for an incredible support staff that understand people and the mission are our top priorities.
