Japanese Financial Firms Show Promise for Lucrative Investments Japanese financial firms are garnering attention as a compelling investment opportunity, drawing in investors with their rising dividend payments and undervalued stocks. Junichi Inoue, a portfolio manager at Janus Henderson Investors, has shifted his focus from global companies to Japanese financial firms, bolstering his holdings in companies like Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Tokio Marine Holdings to about 18.05% of the total for his £43.07 million Japan Opportunities Fund. His fund has outperformed the MSCI Japan Index, boasting a 15% return this year. These firms are projected to witness a 9.7% increase in dividends over the next year, positioning them as the third-best performers among 11 major sectors in the Topix index. The Bank of Japan's departure from super-easy monetary policy has contributed to this bullish outlook, amplifying lending margins and investment returns for financial institutions, consequently leading to heightened dividends and stock buybacks. # Thank you Shinji Takahashi for your submission!

*New Blog by Sophie-Claire Emler* For decades, Japan's equity market languished due to the economic stagnation that followed the asset price bubble bursting in the early 1990s. However, several recent developments have rekindled interest in Japanese equities among global investors as the return on Japanese equities only slightly lagged U.S. equities in 2023. The trend for strong returns is continuing this year, with the S&P Dow Jones Indices Japan delivering returns over 19% up to June 2024. https://lnkd.in/eZfHNqQ5

Let's talk about #InternationalEquity. International equity refers to investments in stocks issued by companies based outside of an investor's home country. Investing in international equity offers diversification benefits by providing exposure to different geographic regions, industries, and currencies, thereby aiming to reduce the risk associated with a single market or economy. This asset class seeks to allow investors to capitalize on global economic growth and take advantage of opportunities in markets that may offer higher growth potential or have different economic cycles than their domestic market. However, investing in international equity carries risks such as political instability, regulatory changes, currency fluctuations, and differences in accounting standards and corporate governance practices. Investors should carefully assess their risk tolerance and investment objectives before allocating capital to international equity markets.
