One of our Better You Book Club members suggested this and the title alone had me hooked because it described a feeling very familiar to me, and I'm guessing I'm not alone. How many times have you had an interaction with someone who just didn't get it? Or sighed to yourself and thought "Wow, what an idiot"? The good news is that we aren't really surrounded by idiots, it's more often that the differences in personality types and expression can make it hard to understand one another. Bridging the gaps between these types requires learning a new language, a new way to understand and communicate. In this book, Thomas Erikson shows us how to identify and understand 4 key behavior types, using 4 different colors to differentiate them. If you've been feeling like you're surrounded by idiots and are looking for some fresh perspectives, grab a copy of the book at Birch Tree Bookstore in downtown Leesburg, VA, and then join us in chatting about it at our August meeting! Details about our next meeting can be found here: https://lnkd.in/evEVaC5i

Doctoral Candidate & Instructor | Queer criminologist studying transgender people's social and legal experiences in public, private, and online spaces.
If you’re a horror fan and a criminologist, this book is for you! I contributed a chapter where I analyzed the movie Get Out through a critical race theory lens, pulling from the work of Derrick Bell. You should check it out!
We are thrilled with our new book in the Lexington Books Horror Studies series. Who knew so many criminologists were also horror fans!!

New week, new book club book! If you haven't heard, my book club of one has gained a member (shout out Trevor Rappleye, CFE) and we just finished Decisive, by Chip & Dan Heath, as suggested by Christina Chambers, CFE. The highlight for me by far was the framework for decision-making. WRAP. Widen Your Options. Reality-Test Your Assumptions. Attain Distance Before Deciding. Prepare to Be Wrong. Next up on the list, a slight deviation from the framework-focus of summer, Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, as suggested by Madeleine Zook!
