🌍 Sustainability in Action 🌍 We’re thrilled to share an incredible milestone at Asset Fineline: To date, we’ve successfully recycled 256 tonnes of 1st-generation PVCu windows and doors, diverting all of it from landfill. To put that into perspective, 256 tonnes is roughly equivalent to the weight of the Statue of Liberty! 🗽 By turning what could have been waste into reusable material, we’re not only reducing environmental impact but also paving the way for a more sustainable future in the construction and manufacturing industries. We were thrilled to host Mariagerfjord Erhverv and Netværk for Bæredygtig Erhvervsudvikling NordDanmark, a key part of Grøn Mariagerfjord. 🤝 ♻ During our meeting, we had the opportunity to discuss our green initiatives in detail. Our last week of recaps from #CWMAConference2024. The final panel of the event moderated by Sarah Willie brought us to new levels of inspiration, showing their commitment to something greater... Jamie Madill of Pro-Claim Group's cross-country network of restoration contractors shared how they aim for diversion before disposal and that sustainability is at the heart 💚 of everything they do. Dramatically reducing their environmental impact at every step of the process including preference to work with insurance companies that also make sustainability a priority. Cascades Recovery+ was up next with Candice Ruggero celebrating 🎉 their 60 years of prioritizing sustainability across 70 facilities. Using recycled fibres in their products and offering opportunities to collect their materials for recycling after use, spotlighted their leadership in circular business models. Glyn Lewis closed out this year’s conference elevating Renewal Development’s work to relocate homes 🏡 to new properties and renew and extend their life for new owners. Remarkably, they showed how their work can be cost and time-competitive with demolition companies and that relocation is often 20-40% cheaper than building new. 📢NEWS RELEASE: Earthworks Industries provides an update on the EPA approval of its integrated waste handling project at the Cortina Rancheria. Despite several delays and missed deadlines, the company remains in contact with the EPA for updates on the comprehensive report. In the meantime, Earthworks has taken proactive steps to rebrand its website and establish social media presence. The company was also recognized as one of the Top 50 companies in the #TSXV for 2023. CEO David B. Atkinson commented that the newfound interest in the company and its Cortina project is credited to them "creating a whole new standard of regulations for waste handling based on the state of California." As leaders in the Energy and Waste sector, successfully designing and delivering facilities across the UK, we were intrigued and inspired to read about Recypark in Anderlecht, designed by 51N4E and featured in this month’s RIBA Journal.   By reusing the structural timber frame of a demolished building, the Recypark exemplifies the core principle hierarchy of—reuse, repurpose, and then recycle. The innovative integration of a recycling facility with public green spaces and a skatepark at Recypark draws clear parallels to the recently completed EcoPark South for North London Waste Authority, where we served as the delivery architect. This transformative project prioritises the use of waste and recycling through a Recycling and Fuel Preparation Facility (RFPF) and a public Reuse and Recycling Centre (RRC), while also accommodating EcoPark House, a combined Sea Cadet and community education facility—both of these projects ensuring younger generations engage with sustainability and methods to minimise waste from an early age.   Stay tuned for an in-depth look at EcoPark South coming soon! 🌍 Exciting News! 🌍 Camden and Islington Councils have taken a pioneering step towards sustainability by upgrading the heating system at the Hornsey Street Refuse & Recycling Centre. Partnering with us at Shadow Industrial (SI), an infrared heating specialist, and Principal Contractor Vital Energi, the councils aimed to revolutionise the facility's heating infrastructure in line with their ambitious Climate Action Plans. The existing system, covering 300m² and dependent on AmbiRad fan heaters, was inefficient, costly, and environmentally unfriendly. Camden and Islington Councils sought a solution to reduce energy consumption and achieve Net Zero operational emissions by 2030. The successful implementation of Shadow Industrial's infrared heating systems at the Hornsey Street Reuse & Recycling Centre marks a significant milestone in sustainable heating technology. Recycling Victoria is pleased to release the inaugural Victorian Recycling Infrastructure Plan (VRIP). The VRIP provides investors in the Victorian #circulareconomy with a road map to guide decision-making on waste, recycling, and resource recovery infrastructure over the next 30 years. It is an essential resource, providing insight into potential investment opportunities, including: · infrastructure needs analysis that considers capacity and capability · place-based assessments for each material stream · residual waste and waste to energy · regional opportunities · land use planning. Recycling Victoria has also produced the Waste, Recycling and Resource Recovery Investment Prospectus that highlights investment opportunities and supports. It has been developed in partnership with government agencies who facilitate Victorian business growth.
