For all my network with UAV interests - (and everyone else involved with type certification)! Very positive news from across the Atlantic. Illustrating just how far collaborative initiatives have evolved ‘across the pond’ . Note that the language is all EASA certification - and yet OCCAR (www.OCCAR.int) is military. Think on the significance of that for EU industry and all their military programs! Huge advantages. Most of the initiatives trace back to the European Defence Agency (EDA) set up in 2004. It helps EU’s - And others - 27 Member States (all EU countries) to develop their military resources. It promotes collaboration, launches new initiatives and introduces solutions to improve defence capabilities. Among those initiatives is the MAWA joint authorities group who publish European Military Airworthiness Requirements (EMAR). OCCAR is pushing this certification confident in the knowledge that the outcome with the civil EASA will be a certification that is true ‘dual use’ and that is transferable with minimal effort (cut and paste) between different militaries. Here in USA - we have no equivalent of EDA and we make our comparative business a bit more ………. Complex? …….Expensive? …… Slower? ……..Confusing? You pick!

The ability to maintain these platforms without the need for new production also yields significant environmental benefits. 21-year-old Andreas works as an aviation technician on the #AW101, also known as the #SARQueen.
